Need Advice for Mods!
My bf and I played sooo much Divinity Original Sin 2 and loved it. We played with the Lone Wolf perk so we didn't have to control more than our own characters. He finds BG3 overwhelming and slightly boring (because of the length of time between turns and needing to control multiple units) and said if it felt more like the way we played Divinity he'd probably enjoy it.

Are there mods that can help provide this feeling while also making sure we aren't missing out on the fun banter and stories between characters?

Best of both worlds? No. There are mods for a Lone Wolf like experience but you're not going to get the banter of the party members without dragging them along, which defeats the purpose of Lone Wolf. Still can speak with them at camp. You couldn't do what you're asking for in DOS2 neither. You didn't get the offhand comments the other people could potentially make (not as extensive as BG3 but was there) if two manning Lone Wolf.

I think the second Lone Wolf may work out better with what you're trying to do. Issue is, only feasible way you'll get what you're trying to get is to separate the other two party members from you and your bf and keep them hidden but this means you'd need to know the encounters that turn into fights in advance. Even then, you're still missing out on banter because those members make comments mid conversation with other NPCs.

That's fair. Thank you!! I just don't want to compromise his experience of getting to enjoy the characters as I did playing solo, but maybe it can't be avoided. I appreciate it!

Search Nexus Mods for "Sit This One Out 2" and "Party Limit Begone".

Disclaimer: I do not use any mods myself (yet), so I cannot vouch that these mods still work with the current patch let alone the upcoming patch. Still, it sounds like the best way to bring companions along with the party while leaving them on the sidelines during combat. You can adjust the difficulty of your game accordingly.

I stand corrected.

Though, seems the mod can cause quite a bit of jank reading into it.

Oooh neat, we'll try this one out with the lone wolf clone. Thank you!
