Were you even around in EA? When Wyll was an insufferable bastard?
This new VA of him has a better baseline than the old Wyll ever did.
I get some people liked the murderous Father hating, forever chasing in his footsteps. But this seems a better version of him thus far.
JMHO: I like the Wyll we have now. Sure, he's a bit bland and stereotypical. The whole Blade of Justice (Frontiers) thing is a bit melodramatic and overdone. Also, while he could be a Pact of the the Blade or Hexblade warlock, if he was a different kind of warlock, he probably wasn't using a rapier (blade) all that much, anyway. He was more busy melting people with hellfire. eldritch blasts, or necrotic energy than flourishing his blade.
Also, I happen to agree with Mizora that Wyll needs to grow up in certain ways, and while I believe her relationship with him as his warlock patron is fundamentally exploitative and bad for him, there are hints that sometimes the stuff she does is to get him to grow up into the kind of person he could be. I actually do think, in her own infernal kind of way, she DOES kind of care about him. To be clear, as a fiend/cambion/devil she's mostly and always still interested in how useful he can be as a pawn.
The ♥♥♥♥ she pulls with lying to him about his father being dead is SO Mizora. She doesn't want him out of the pact, because she mostly likes having him as a puppet.
BTW, I also don't believe there is a Mizora "romance" either, I think all a Tav can have with her is a one night stand where - like Emp - there is no actual physical sex - she just projects into your soul a diabolic vision of making love with her in the hells. She's not interested in actual sex with you.
Yes, I was, and the VA isn't new. It's the same actor just with different instructions. Old Wyll at least was his own person instead of constantly starting and ending his sentences about his father. I did not find the murderhobo to fit a Blade of Frontiers but I also don't think a Hero would be constantly quoting their dad left and right as if they never learned anything on their own and still holding their daddy s hand.
Theo Solomon is the voice actor for Wyll Ravengard in the 2023 video game Baldur's Gate 3.
Explanation
Lanre Malaolu originally voiced Wyll, but Solomon took over for the final release of the game.
Solomon has also voiced other characters in the game, including Bernard, Scared Boar, and Tingmiaq.
[snip][end]
I'm not exactly sure the EXACT timing of when Theo replaced Lanre in EA. But as said, he was the VA for the final release.
It's really something about his manners, his animations, or maybe his hairstyle I wouldn't know. I just can't stand to have anything to do with him. It's very basic. I guess Larian combined the perfect alchemy to make my ideal of dislikeable character
Grow up from what exactly,, he's not doing anything bad that contributes to a worse society? In fact he's someone that all men should discipline themselves to be, which would actually help BG in the long term.
Wyll's mom should be proud that her son didn't surrender (grow up) to prove Miz-whora right. Because most men likely lack discipline, since how many can control even their basic 'dark urge' in Faerun? It wouldn't surprise me if majority of so-called heroes end up being an evil or CN alignment.
Mizwhora just wants Wyll to become like typical 'grown up' dudes, which doesn't benefit anyone except people like herself. (aka) The evil god queens.
Agreed, she's someone that's probably still a virgin as well. (That or Mizwhora only allows Zariel to physically love her, while everyone else gets a dream experience instead.)
My guess is that most people have a natural habit of disliking dorks & losers? Of course there's always exceptions, because female dorks tend to be accepted better.

^ ""This begs the question, if Wyll was marketed looking like wonder-woman that serves Manzora.. would things have been better? I suspect so, based on history of male gamers loving to rescue damsels from enslavement.
Wyll would be seen like princess peach or zelda, who have been forgiven for lack of agency. While mizora is similar to Bowser or Ganondorf that has control over our noble heroine.""
Yes we prefer the stereotypical black person who saw himself as a victim, a slave, with anger issues towards caucasians... oops I meant goblins.
EA Wyll was going to be portrayed as a womanizer & boozehound horndog, who's a former criminal abandoned by his father. We know this from content Larian removed, for example they recently deleted his flirty banter with Laezel & Shadowheart.
Larian subconsciously created the negative portrayal of black men, & in their last minute tried to fix it with more positive representation.
...........................
All GQs preferred the Wyll in early access too.
Wyll is nowhere near the most likable.
If not for Halsin, Wyll would be the LEAST likable -- boring as hell personality, self important while trying to act humble, huge hypocrite and, for emphasis, BORING
That was only suppose to happen to the EA Wyll, which is why modders brought it back after it got removed by Larian.

^ So technically that never happened to 'Wyll', since he's portrayed as a legit hero now. He's not flawed like Gale, where 'god queens' were his weakness. He doesn't even desire Mizwhora, which Minthara talked to him about.
"As a boy, my bond with father was to deep to miss the mother I never had." "My father once said, one does not pursue a champion's life. one merely answers its call."
"You can put distance between you & yesterday, but you'll never leave it fully behind. My father's words, it's hard to argue with them." Sorry had to post these after knowing your annoyance about it lol.
Did you know the EA version is less positive about Wyll's dad? It was implied that his family were criminals disguising as honorable nobles.
Here's a quote that got removed, where Wyll says "He claims honor, while demanding his servants grovel & sweat." And I believe he used to be a thief for his dad too?
Existential crisis intensifies
I didn't recall the War Criminal part, but I do remember it not being as cheery in respect for his father back in Early Access. It may have been at the point in Early Access I did not experience because what I remember is that Wyll wasn't vehement against his father, still willing to rescue him because it's his dad but the Flaming Fist treated Wyll like the criminal, and Wyll wasn't as chipper about pops, but not super negative neither.
