Apart from the obvious (gith and dragonborn), what race makes the most sense in romancing laezel? Im having a hard time deciding between Drow, Human, Tiefling, Dwarf, and Duegar. any ideas?

"Well, will you settle for riding a red dragonborn?" (LOL).

The exact lore of the origin of the Githyanki is murky. What we do know: the Ghaik seem to have taken a humanoid race (if not human) and modified them so they could be their thralls - until the Gith rebelled. This was thousands of years ago.

What exactly they did to the Gith to modify them is unknown but as I've said, both their appearance and egg laying seem to suggest the Ghaik spliced a bit of amphibian (not reptile) DNA into there. Part frog or toad is more correct than part lizard.

Yeah, Illithid seem to like to frick around with species, just to find out later that it wasn't such a great idea.

- Gith earned telekinesis powers
- Duergar mind control
- Kuo Toa the ability to materialize their own beliefs (basically wish spell powered by groups).

If the purpose has always been to engineer an easily controllable species of thralls (to feed upon and send to combat), they demonstrated a very poor ability to control their own experiments.

I assume because she's always wanted to ride a red dragon

Fun fact: the first writer to use the word "Githyanki" was George RR Martin, in what would be considered a SCIENCE FICTION (not fantasy) 1977 novel called Dying of the light.

The Githyanki of D & D's 1E Fiend Folio were borrowed from Martin's book.

It mentions a race of beings called the githyanki. This name was taken from the novel for use with a much different race in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game.

But does she? I'm not aware of any lizards which don't use dogstyle.

They look like part-frogs or toads to me. There's some amphibian in there, not necessarily reptiles or lizards.

drow have a similar society -- ruled by an ironfisted evil deity, racist superiority complex (everyone not like me is inferior), everyone is trained to fight, etc all match. However, these similarities could also be grounds for a knock down drag out instead, so ... erm, if you go with opposites attract, ... halfling.
