People already paid for the game its their job to deliver a finished product.
Game has many items that do not work and the game is littered with bugs everywhere.
The items are rather important and should be a high priority to fix.
The developers don't care about an entire cohort of bugs, sadly.
And just because they haven't mentioned other bugs in that or earlier updates doesn't mean Patch 8 won't fix others. In short, we won't know everything Patch 8 will fix until it drops and that's in the patch announcement.
Will they get every bug? No. Has any developer? I repeat: the answer on this score is almost always no. BG2 never fixed hundreds of bugs upon release, and even later patches, it required a mod-based fixpack to fix them.
It's a bit like starving yourself because you shouldn't have to accept charity to survive, but it's entirely your choice to shoot yourself in the foot.
That's a extreme example. It's a video game and his points about mods can certainly be correct. I have never felt a need to use mods for this game.
Enraging Heart Garb - Fix to 'Ruintamer Heart' not providing Wrath while raging
Justiciar's Scimitar - Fix to 'Shadow-Blinding' not functioning in Honor mode, fix to 'Illusion Blade' passive being hidden, fix to no proficiency requirement not being stated
Gloves of Battlemage's Power - Fix to 'Battlemage's Power' not providing Arcane Acuity
Again, Larian should be embarrassed, but they aren't. Instead they celebrate.
They deserve to celebrate. Awesome game. I also was pleasantly surprised when they announced the 12 new sub classes for the game. Wasn't expecting that.
The reality is, this was also true of BG2, or it's big mod-based Fixpack would never have existed.
As I said, we won't know how many bugs Patch 8 will squash until it drops. Can't assume it's only the ones they've mentioned so far.
It's weird. That mod I'm not that interested in using, as 75% of the items it fixes are ones I almost never use. I also will point out, honestly, some of them I have used, and never would have noticed they were bugged, as those are the kind of bugs that only show up in your Combat Log ... (like, "this should be doing +2 damage but is only doing +1 damage", or "this should be triggering Arcane Acuity, but doesn't.") ,, and I almost never look at it.
I only point this out as in doing triage, developers prioritize a) the most game-breaking bugs and b) the most reported bugs.
I'm betting the ones fixed in that Item Fixpack for BG3 are rarely reported,
To be clear, I'm NOT saying Larian SHOULDN'T fix them anyway,
But then, Bioware SHOULD have fixed all the ones in BG2, also ... and didn't.
Final point: it is a mod you can definitely finish the game without, as you probably can finish the game even if the Shield of Slapping Yo Mama does 1d8 damage instead of the 1d6 damage it should properly do, ... won't prevent you from finishing the game, for sure. Almost all the fixes in that fixpack are to either make items do what the tooltip says, or yep, in some cases, make them do anything at all.
Can you finish the game with items that don't do what they're supposed to? Obviously, and many people have.
All that said ... nothing I've said here is to indicate "Larian shouldn't fix these." They should. I also think it is awesome that modder did it himself, and most importantly, was very careful not to create new bugs by fixing others. That second part is key.
The combat log has a lot of bugs too, but unfortunately he can't fix them.
Shrug.
I applaud the modder's work, and good on you for making people aware of it. Like many mods, you might not know it's there ... unless you know it's there.
As I said, if I was using more of the items it fixes, I would have done it already. I am not, so I'm not bothering.
Actually, looking through the list....
I think I have one character wearing the Cloak of the Weave, and didn't realize the Elemental Absorption wasn't functioning.
I didn't realize the Helm of Balduran's stun immunity isn't working properly. That could be, of course, because the # of enemies who can stun you in the vanilla game is barely above nonzero.
Gale often uses the Marko staff. I never noticed Marko (the staff) didn't properly describe the turns for Kereska's Favor properly in the tooltips, it's good to correct that.
Now let's talk about the spells.
EDIT: NVM, I'm daft. I now realize that what he did with Counterspell and the Shield Spell is make them APPLY charges of Arcane Ward that they should normally if you are an Abjuration spec'd wizard... which apparently they don't do.
More excellent work.
BTW, you know how I just realized this? This just popped up on mod.io and does many of the same things.
Just Bugs Me: QoL, item, tooltip + pedantic fixes!

He not only has fixes for many items, spells, and tooltips, but also has made changes to some of the game's icons, and done some other "QoL" stuff too.
BTW ... props to both these mod authors.
Is it shooting yourself in the foot to refuse a simple solution to your problem that hurts no one just because it's something you "shouldn't have to do"? Also yes.
