Was going to start a new playthrough, should I wait for Patch 8?

I played in 2023 got to Act 2 didn't like my character and wanted to start over. I finished some other games and thought now is the time to start Baldur's Gate 3 again.

I launch game and see Patch 8 just went into testing. Should I wait for that patch to go live? If so how long do you think I will have to wait.

if you're not using mods then I wouldn't really see any benefit to waiting. Patch 8 shouldn't affect a vanilla patch 7 save at all when it comes out

The prudent thing to do is disable automatic updates as I wouldn't want to be part way through a run after sinking in a lot of hours just for an update to mess things up. When there are a lot of moving parts under the bonnet, you could just get unlucky, even if 99% of possibilities have been accommodated for.

You may be better off waiting if you want to play the best version of the game that there will likely be, but as previously mentioned by Chaosolus, you may be waiting a while, and BG3 is definitely a game that has huge replay value.
