Karlach and the Paladins of Tyr
So I have a bit of a dumb question. I normally take Karlach to camp, respec her to what I want and then immediately go kill the paladins with her. If you head away to camp or away from the area, she will want to talk to you and be like "hey, we're still gonna go fight those guys right?" in which case I always say yes.

The question: Can I leave the paladins be for an extended period of time? Could I go wipe out the goblin camp, explore the Underdark, go do whatever I want and then do the paladins as my last part of Act 1? Am I on an invisible timer and she will get mad and leave if I don't help her first? Again, dumb question, I just thought I'd do some stuff in a different order than usual to spice things up but didn't want to risk losing her as a companion if I'm on an invisible timer of doom, and I've never seen people not just immediately go after the paladins when watching other playthroughs.

There are probably only two decisions in the entirety of the game that are on timers and Karlach's request isn't one of them. The game likes to make you think you're under some kind of time crunch, but you never really are. You can take your time with pretty much everything.

Many people get her then go back to deal with the Paladin's after hitting Lv5 or 6 which requires doing so much in Act 1, including the Underdark. So long as you aren't progressing to Act 2, there isn't a consequence and in the event of not doing the Paladins of Tyr and going to Act 2, not sure what would happen there.
If nothing else, going into the Shadowfell will prevent you from ever returning to the Act 1 areas at all, so that would be the last moment you could.

I know Lae'zel threatens to leave your party if you try to go into the Shadowfell without dealing with her quest first. I have no idea whether Karlach does the same.

I rather like the greatsword that Anders has; it is usually your first chance at a +1 greatsword. So I often deal with them (one way or another) quite quickly.
