Concentrated Blast with a fighter? [SPOILERS]

I'm pretty new to BG3 and just unlocked the Illithid Powers. My character is a generic Fighter-Champion using 2-handed weapons. When I got to the screen to open the Illithid Powers the Psionic Backlash pretty much jumped out right away. Having 3 tadpoles I consumed 2 and unlocked Concentrated Blast and Psionic Backlash. I figured since my fighter will always be in the thick of battle he'll probably always be within 30 feet of a spell caster.

My question is: as a fighter, who doesn't use any spells or otherwise enter into a concentrated state, is the Concentrated Blast mostly a dump here? As I said, I'm pretty new to the game, as well as 5e rules, so I might be missing something. I'm fine if I never get to use it since the Backlash seems like a pretty decent ability to have.

You can find items that give you concentration spells or cantrips that you can use. Anything works, really.
