Is Mol bugged?
saved the girl from kagha and saved the boy from the harpies, but because I went to their hideout earlier and she started counting down from 10, she continues counting down before running off. heard this was a bug a year ago, but does it still lock me out of the idol quest?

Yep, happened to me too on my first run. Far as I can tell, the only way to solve it is to reload before entering the hideout, or start a new game and don't enter the hideout early.

I don't know what the idol quest entails exactly after you steal it and give it to Mol, but it's probably not the biggest deal to miss out on it.

The problem here is the Idol quest won't start if you investigated Kagha (likely yes) or if you saved Halsin (likely no). Generally speaking if you have done anything that decides the grove's fate before Mol is ready to give that quest, you're screwed.

That means, if you want to get it (I got it), you need to do the kids quests first (Arabella & the harpies) and need be soft on kids committing crimes. What I don't know is, how many actions we need to do to gain Mol's trust? Are they all equals (probably no)?

I haven't done too much to advance the Grove main quest stuff yet, like investigating Kagha or saving Halsin. The kids committing crimes I haven't tried yet, but the wiki says it shouldn't be necessary. It's weird cuz the harpy kid is still inside singing my praises and giving me his letter, but he never gives a password to the hideout.

He would have given you the password after you rescued him from the Harpies. Did you speak to Doni?

So there still hope to get the Idol quest after all. For the password,Doni will give it to you if the kid (I don't remember his name) in Investigate the Beach survives. I don't know if this is sufficient to earn Mol's trust because I did few other things with the kids before taking my side.

Oh, so Doni just does this hand gesture and the narrator tells me that he looks as if he's hurt to look at me. So maybe if I go into the hideout, talk to the harpy kid, leave the hideout, talk to Doni again, then return to the hideout, Mol will let me in? It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Probably not. Sounds like you already screwed yourself by doing everything out of order in the first place. Mirkon tells you to speak with Doni first from jump. Assuming you never did and snuck in, or found the entrance through perception.

Again, you already have the password from Mirkon. You got it from saving him. Speaking to Doni after already bypassing him isn't likely to change anything and Mirkon doesn't give the password a second time.
