Orb of Darkvision

What use is the Orb of Darkvision at Grymforge. I never understood the purpose of that.

I mostly just ignore it, personally.

I remember Shadowheart comments on it (if she's the first one to touch the thing), overall it's just useful gadget to get darkvision out of if one of your characters doesn't have it.

But it only lasts 10 turns, and the place where it is it is not really needed. Gale comments on it too.

Perhaps it was cheaper for the original occupeants to patrol the ramparts with it active than to have someone cast the spell on all the guards every day. Some things are just there because they do a little world building, even if they're not useful to the player (like the generator room on Shadow Moses Island in MGS).

For me it was a shiny red button to ensure that I stepped on traps.
