It makes no sense to have it installed locally if you are using GeForce Now. It works just fine with GeForce Now. Whether it is worth it for you, I cannot tell. Steam has a two hours refund window which you can use in doubt.
In practice, it doesn't really matter. BG3 isn't the sort of game where FPS drops are a huge QoL hit.
It runs great on even the free tier of GeForce Now. ( Just have to deal with longer queues and a short session limit on the free tier. Oh, and ads before your game now, too. ) However, you can't use mods ( yet? ). The mod browser just comes up empty if you're playing through GFN. And, no, you don't have to have a game installed to play it on GFN. Just have to have it in your Steam/Epic/Origin/Battle.net library.
GFN is a great options if your system isn't powerful enough to run it locally. Got me through for over a year until an amazing friend gifted me a new gaming PC for Christmas. ^_^
I didn't even know there was this thing around :), lol...
Tried it immediately, the free option, and linked my Steam account. Took me 5 minutes or so.
Only problem is having to wait a little bit for some resources to be released by other players for me to enter but... This is heaven :D
Thanks for posting, my old, once super, now potato computer send its heartfelt thanks to you :))). Finally he can take a nap while I play my game... Even the ultimate pays off... $220 a year means a new nice rig every 7 years, but in around 5 years your nice rig will become a toaster and, with the subscription, you'll always be on top. Pays off, definitely.
My only doubts will be competitive, real time, gaming or simulators, because of latency / jitter all will depend on how good is your internet connection, beyond download and upload speed.
In BG3 there should be no problems even on free unless your internet connection is really bad because it's a turn game... No real time issues with jitter / latency.
That's the biggest drawback of the free account. The login queues can get quite long during peak times. The cheaper paid account still sometimes has queues but not as long. Don't know about the premium account, I never shelled out for it. :p
Well, one of the biggest drawbacks. The shorter session time can also be annoying.
