Oath of the Crown --- Feh.
It's a dull paladin spec, Larian. Why not do Oath of the Watchers?

More importantly, why has no modder done a current, working version of Oath of the Watchers? The one at Nexus is not Patch 7 compatible.

But as always, I wonder how Larian is gonna handle this.

The spec gets key spells at lvl 13 and lvl 17. Well, Geas is not in the game. But several could substitute for it. I think Circle of Power/Magic Circle is "hiding" in the game files.

But also it get key features at lvl 15 (unyielding saint) and 20 (exalted champion).

Will Larian simply ignore these, "compress" them into 1-12 progression, or tell people to go get ULC? I suspect they may compress the progression for the subclass.

I mean...it's paladin...they all are a bit dull, no matter the subclass....shiny armor can't hide that fact...:P

I wouldn't expect the lvl 20 feat...but they might compress the level 15 feat...depends on what Larian thinks is fun and cool.
But most subclasses have missing stuff from their full progression, don't they? I wouldn't expect anything different from the new ones.

It's the one subclass for paladin that gets access to Spirit Guardians, which is pretty cool, and the features seem to satisfy the desire for a 'tank' with it's variety of methods of compelling enemies to attack them and redirecting damage.

Interested in seeing what other Channel Oath they cook up, too.
I agree Crown is a bit dull, especially as a party member clearly belongs to an oath (Tyranny) which still hasn't been implemented. Really it plays into the fact that WotC have claimed to decouple the Paladin from alfignment, but still make sure almost every oath is within one step of Lawful Good. While potentially interesting from a gameplay perspective it kind of sucks from a story one.

The fact of the matter is that, from a story perspective, Blackguards are more interesting than more goodish oaths and even oathbreakers. It's not just that they're divinely inspired evil warriors, but that they've willingly sworn themselves to the forces of evil.

To be honest I thought they would go Conquest since Conquest paladin npcs are already in the game and having fully working abilities.
