Edit: Oh, also the Club of Hill Giant Strength for 19 Strength (Act 1).

Yup. It is the item that the demonologist wants you to steal in exchange for getting you in, but you don't need to take that deal.

There is also Graceful cloth that adds +2 to DEX (up to 20), similar one that adds +2 to STR (up to 20), a heavy armor that adds +2 to CON and a hat in Act 3 that adds +2 to CHA.

The gloves give 18 DEX, actually.

At the same time take the Amulet of Greater Health (23 CON).

There are gloves that give 23 STR, an amulet that gives 23 CON, an amulet that increases WIS by 1. All of which are found only in Act 3.
There are two more amulets that boost ability scores: 1) Khalid's Gift amulet will add a +1 to Wisdom (up to 21), 2) Amulet of Greater Health that gives 23 constitution.
Another one you can't carry ... the Mirror of Loss that give you a permanent bonus of +2 (up to 24) to any stat of your choice. All party members can benefit with some restriction to Shadowheart if she betrayed Shar. Some savescumming might be required to get it.

Ah, there's also Club of Hill Giant Strength that sets your STR to 19, which you can use as an off-hand weapon.
Club of Hill Giant Strenght: STR 19
Warped Headband of Intelligence: INT 17
Gloves of Dexterity: DEX 18
Gauntlet of Hill Giant Strenght: STR 23
Amulet of Greater Health: CON 23

The above should be all the "crutch items" that can be found ingame, if memory serves.

there is a +2 cha hat, and probably several more minor items like it. The set to value below 20 are rubbish by and large (a lot of people seem to find a use for the 17 hat, but I don't know what, all it seems to be good for are the less than stellar magey subclasses of rogue & fighter or early game, making a not fixed shart able to use her racial cantrip some. Since you would fix her to have create flame to use wisdom, that isn't very useful either. EK isnt 'bad' but the rogue one isn't good). The only < 20 one I have used is the club, to get carry capacity on an archer. Dex 18 may get you +1 ac to gale but he has better options.

The early game items are good early game, but get pushed out by better items later.

I sometimes wear the gloves of dexterity most of the game, because if you use DEX as a dump stat, they become fantastic. I also wear the Graceful Cloth for quite a while, because it is a free +1 AC for any non-armor character, and also gives advantage for lockpicking.

The gauntlets of giant strength come a little too late, IMO.

The CHA hat is *always* nice for warlocks and sorcerers and bards.

The 23 CON amulet is a must-wear. I usually end up having Shadowheart wear it, and she becomes super tanky.

The 17 INT headband is nice to hang on to if you want to try to help your less-than-brilliant characters pass the DC25 religion check to use the Mirror of Loss.
