Nice and everything but just wondering who wanna do it?
Official that would only done if people would think they could make more money than loose. Don't think that this might be the case and it would be probably be difficult to sell that idea to investors / publishers?
The modding community? They usually do only small stuff and bigger things are very rare.
You? That is probably your best bet...
I'd have thought that a NWN2 remake would be very popular, especially considering that BG3 had such a phenomenally great reception.
I for example never touched NWN1/2 and no it's not because I was to young at that time.
And I am not sure if I would play a remake, even after playing BG3 to be honest. It really had to convince me plus if it's WOTC I would be absolutely sceptical and probably not buy it if I would assume WOTC influence...
I think it would be very hard because NWN2 was made with the 3.5 Edition D&D Rules, whereas BG3 follows 5th edition. Consider that prestige classes were in NWN but now BG3
More to the point, the big draw of both NWN games was the DM toolkit rather than the campaigns they came with, and I just don't see WotC releasing something that will directly compete with their subscription VTT.
Assuming an "re-imagining" rather than a 1:1 remake, I don't see why it would be any less popular than BG3. It's not like BG3 was only successful because of its name. Most of us who played BG1 are in out 40s now. it stood on its own merits.
Besides, we're already getting a NWN2: EE, which is apparently much bigger in filesize, which could literally mean anything, than the once on Steam available Platinum Edition.
Also I assume most BG3 players never played any of the previous games as I would also assume that most wouldn't care about the remake if it wouldnt be good enough on its own, which it wouldnt probably because what I said previously.
But in the end it doesn't matter that much what any of us thinks.
I don't think it will happen, at least not any soon. If you think otherwise ok, keep hopping but don't get your hopes to high.
