Smite + Sneak attack
I am still levelling up and building my character. (I have level 20 MOD, and others..)
But currently only level 8 single class Warlock.
Thinking to go Paladin 5, Rogue 1 later (for smite and sneak attack)

now the question is...
===> can I do both at the same time / on the same attack?

I noticed reaction or that kind of stuff only let me chose one of my possible reactions, not multiples ones...

I guess shouting your oath as you strike would ruin the surprise.

As Minsc sometimes says, "Boo is napping .... so DIE IN SILENCE, EVIL!" :steamhappy:

If you are hidden, you can do a sneak attack even if you are 11 levels of Paladin and 1 Rogue. But it has to be when using a specific type weapon. Which is going to suck as your main paladin one you should be using. :P

I think it is best to multi-class a rogue with a class like Ranger, Monk, or Bard.

You only have one reaction.

You can do both, but probably not through the Reaction interface. Best to default to activating Sneak Attack manually since it's free and the conditions aren't that hard to meet.
I'm pretty sure you can do both but you need to activate other first "manually". I would manually smite and then with reaction to get sneak attack.

Oh, and off topic, for all that is holy, if you go 5 levels of Paladin, go 6 levels! Aura of Protection is right there! :D

Yes, as long as you have advantage when you attack or an ally is within five feet of the target.

You also must be wielding a finesse weapon.

Tell that to a Kobold

I went and tested both with a dagger; no, you cannot do both. I attacked with Smite from Hide, no popup for Sneak Attack. Did the same for Sneak Attack, no popup for Smite.

Smite is still a spell which is likely the reason. Sneak triggers on a melee hit only, not a Spell attack even if its a melee spell.

What about if you set the sneak attack to trigger without a pop-up? Would it work then?

It doesn't work period. Auto or manual.

That's a bummer. Thanks for the trouble of testing, though.

its a shame it didn't work out. But the yell and smash should absolutely be considered a sneak attack given some sort of check/roll. Someone running right at you from out of nowhere and yelling at the top of their lungs is surprising enough to get to stab them once while they are still trying to figure out what is going on. The roll to see if their mind/reflexes are up to the job... that kind of 'stealth' won't always work.
