Are you vanilla no mods? No, you will not have to start over, official patches are always build to let players continue their previous saves.
Are you missing subclasses? Yes and no. You can always respec (be aware, you cannot change race or background) .

If you use mods. The answer is no.
Even if you have ones that are incompatible, they might well be updated for compatibility, certainly within a week or two of patch 8 release.
As stated above, you should be able to respec any character to take one of the new subclasses in an existing playthrough.
