New build for Phalar Aluve
Hey guys, I have always known how good this is, but it’s never made it into my party simply because I didn’t have a build for it. The only frontline fighter was a paladin with a giant 2h smiting everything. Everyone else was range based. So this time I need to build for it!

My ideas are ….

A light cleric, using radiating orb and reberb gear to run into the fray with spirit guardians and then shriek for maximum AOE carnage.

An Abjuration wiz, as they basically tank it all and never get attacked due to arcane ward stacks.

A swords bard, which I haven’t tried yet but I know how broken they are. Only reason I haven’t used one is because I always go lore bard for maximum hypnotic pattern abuse (best spell in the game by a mile)

Tell me how you build yours?

I like to have all my builds be self-reliant so that I can mix and match my party as I please without much concern for any one companion requiring a specific second companion to function properly.

Just as someone else in this thread mentioned, I intend to make a Magic Missile spammer at some point:

(As a side note, I keep reading absolutely everywhere including the BG3Builds subreddit on reddit that Hat of the Sharp Caster is perfect for Magic Missiles even though the hat is only meant to affect spell attacks, which Magic Missile isn't. Does it really work? Anyone know for sure?)

Without the hat, it should be able to achieve an average of 17 damage per missile from Magic Missile starting at level 10, with +1 missiles from the necklace. So, a level 1 Magic Missile would deal 68 damage, and it would be +17 damage per spell level upcast. Level 6 Magic Missiles would do a solid 153 damage.

Furthermore, for debuffing, each missile from Magic Missile will apply five Radiant Orbs to the enemy and two Radiant Orbs to all enemies within 10 ft of them. Effectively neuters 2+ martial enemies with a level 1 Magic Missile.

If I ever want other crowd control, the typical Wizard spells will also be available at a decent success chance (up to 21 DC). And, of course, access to all the Wizard utility spells like Longstrider and Enhanced Leap is also a plus.

Seems very good overall.
