I think there should be another dialogue option with Karlach and Zanner Toobin, but it was lost. In the first and second acts Karlach's engine was stabilized by usual blacksmith, Dammon. Despite the fact that he needed only 5 pieces of infernal iron (2 for Karlach and 3 for equipment), you could find 7 pieces. In the third act, you could talk to any Steelwatcher. If there is Karlach in your party, the guard will say something like "your engine has outdated, you need to visit Steel Watch Foundry to fix it". Pay attention: you still can loot infernal iron from EVERY Steel Watcher. Then you save Zanner Toobin, the engineer, who created Steel Watchers and that epic Steel Watch Titan. And it would be very logical if Zanner Toobin gave a quest like "bring me 10 pieces of infernal iron and i will craft a new engine for Karlach, which won't explode". Did he do it? No, he didn't. It's getting even weirder, if you remember about Gale. He has a Netherese Orb in his chest, which is LITERALLY DEVOURS any magic and can kill Gale. But you just need to feed it with three green items in the first act and Gale will be OK for the rest of the game. That's why I think there must be an additional dialogue option with Zanner Toobin

Um... sounds like you didn't pay attention at Papa Elminster's visit. Gale's orb stopped eating magical items for a reason.

Regarding Gale's Orb. Its the charm that Elminster gives him at the end of act1 that is the crucial thing. Mystra later reveals that she allowed the orb to feed directly on the weave to keep it stable.

Without me knowing how or where Dammon is dead somewhere, because he doesn't sow up in Act 3 for my game, so I can't complete Karlachs quest. Or Wyll's because that demoness is also bugged and doesn't realize we already watched the coronation.

Dammon in Act 3 won't help with Karlach in any way.
