Save the Duke - Wyll's pact.
Can I break the pact and save his father. How to do so, like do I need to tell him to brake the pact. IF so, what garantee me his father is still alive, because the quest marker is telling me ''completed'' after I did so.

You CAN break the pact, she says he will die. But most guides online say he can be saved by going to Iron Throne. An issue i'm having is that when I get there he is dead already and i'm not sure why... If it says that "concerns about Duke Ravenguard are behind us" or something like that, then more than likely he is dead. Let me know if you happen to find a way to break the pact AND save the father.

Yes I did it. My only hint is to go to where the mer people are and start there quest. It was by far the best quest in the game and I was completely blown away by it.

Well seems like trouble and since I do not use Wyll as a companion, I guess I'm not going to break his pact.

You can still save his dad even after you break the pact. you just need to go to the Iron Throne before you finish the main quest involving Gortash. And you don't need to have Wyll as a companion either.

What is the main quest involving him. I actually made a temporary pact with him against Orion, but did not really go foward into the quest. I'm wandering around in BG trying to do side quests and not mess things up.

Actually the more guides I read, the more complicated it seems to be. Is going to the Iron throne something that should be done quickly in act 3 ?

I read if I kill too many cultist in town before saving him, he may die anyway ?

after the coronation, just don't kill Gortash before you save Wyll's dad at the Iron Throne.

but also going to the Iron Throne makes Gortash hostile.

Should I deal with the cultists/bhaal throne before going to the Iron Throne to save the Duke.

I have no idea, I did the Iron Throne very early on because I wanted to see the Steel Watchers crumble :P but if you're going to do the foundry quest, I'd recommend starting up the Water House quest in the temple near the foundry.

You can recruit Minsc and deal with Orin before you save Ravenguard if you like. I did many things before going to the iron throne (also Gale's and Astarion's quests and some minor tasks) and Ravenguard was still alive.

Just don't go to the dragon yet. That will break Wyll's dialogue and he won't comment on anything but the dead dragon afterwards.

It does not make a difference. As soon as you reach the Iron Throne, Gortash becomes hostile no matter what you have done.
In terms of saving Wyll's father, a relatively easy way to save him is either use a strong healing spell or throw a larger healing potion at the floor beneath him (it will break and heal him). You should do this before moving him out of his cell.

So I can do this regardless of breaking the pact or not right, saving duke.

Yes, you can do it regardless as part of dealing with Gortash, though it is not necessary. There is just the added challenge if you choose to save his father. If you do, though, you get another quest that leads to the best helmet and two-handed weapon in the game.

So breaking the pact is not gonna prevent me from getting the helmet and the two-handed weapon ?

When you break the pact, there is absolutely no change apart from one: If you accept the demon's help, the quest to free his father is easier. If you refuse her help and keep Wyll free, it makes the quest harder.
