If Tav had a canon class, what would it be?
Not that they do, but for the sake of discussion, what do you feel would be Tav's canon class? Based on what critera? Like those with the most unique/funniest/interesting responses, interactions, most fitting to their personality and decisions in a default playthrough? Would you say that the different playthrough styles each have a different canon class that fits it best?

For me, in a default good playthrough, Bard Tav seems to fit the most. It's one of the few class types not already covered by the origin characters or other companions. They would be the one who charms and binds our team of misfits together. They can get them to cooperate and support them with their individual issues and conflicts. Keeping spirits up while not having any agenda of their own except for their principles, allowing ALL the others to trust them and follow their lead while also opening them up to be influenced towards a better path than the one their various patrons have chained them to.

They can talk, punch, spellcast, sneak, cheat, lockpick and crawl their way out of every situation. is crazy enough to pull off all the wild stunts we do. They would have broad knowledge across a wide variety of topics while lacking deeper insight that they depend on their friends for.

They would be able to demoralize, curse and hurt the enemy while encouraging, blessing and aiding their friends in a fight. Bard's seem to have some of the most varied and fun conversation options and unique dialogue rolls spread throughout the game as well.

If i had to choose a close 2nd, it would be a wild magic sorcerer Tav but i've already written enough, what are your own thoughts and notions for what fits Tav best in any sort of playthrough? Please remember to warn about spoilers if you bring anything up.

Tav would be a bard. It makes most sense for a character without their own story. They are there to record other people's stories and be their therapist ;)

I concur with bard, despite the Dark Urge path clearly has a canonical idea.

I’m playing Bard in my first playthrough and noticed there are a lot of Bard options in conversations. Made my Bard a criminal so thievery is an option as well.

I'm pretty sure Tav will have a canon class. A novel based on BG3 is likely to be published soon, if earlier Baldur's Gate games are any indication.

Bard.

Bard or Sorcerer. There's lots of gear for both, but no companions with those classes.

The canon Tav will likely be the default Dark Urge (Sorcerer).

Tav is actually somewhat cannon, Tav was a baldurian investigating on the murders in the city (murder from the dark urge) before getting abducted by the nautiloid. If you play as Dark Urge, Tav was murdered by the Dark Urge on his investigation. If you play as Tav, the Dark Urge was murdered by Orin the red before he could kill Tav. This explain why Tav got [Baldurian] options in some dialogues, because he was an investigator in the city.

A fitting class would be paladin or fighter maybe, but it could be anything really.
Cannon Dark urge is white dragon sorcerer from the official game art and Blood in Baldur's Gate mini game.

How do we know it's a sorcerer?

From the official game art and the mini game blood in Baldur's Gate: https://bloodinbaldursgate.larian.com/

Also, if you play as Tav, you can find the Dark Urge body (white dragonborn) somewhere in the Bhaal temple.
