Physical Deluxe Edition

Hey all,

The new physical Deluxe, recently announced, is extremely tempting.

I have a question for Larian people: if I pre-order the game now, do I get my Steam code now, or do I have to wait Q1 2024 to be able to enjoy this gem?

You do understand what 'Physical' means, right? You cannot 'enjoy' it until you receive it. 2024.

The physical edition contains a Steam code. You could get a steam code now and receive the physical item later.

Sorry about that. My apologies. Do not know if they will give access to Steam outside of the 'box' as it were. Their website might be able to answer that question. :)

That was indeed so with the collector's edition, where users got their key per email early on since there were those heavy delays with the shipping. This time around the deluxe edition is prepared to be ready soon/alongside the xbox release with the planned keys to be pressed on disc. At least that is the plan and might be subject to change.

Considering the package to be readied for retailers rather than a Larian Studios self-publishing-package as it was with the collector's edition, the earliest to get the key this time is with receiving the boxed package as whole.

Personally I do not recommend the Deluxe Edition as boxed. It is fair priced, much to my surprise, which makes it more attractive compared to other games' deluxe editions - especially with the soundtrack pressed on disc as extra. But the rest is hardly worth the extra 20 EUD.

I would recommend it as a Christmas gift.
For one-self you are good enough with the Steam/GOG.com version available. There will be no difference either considering it comes with a Steam key anyroads.
