People say Lae`zel changes her attitude a lot

I wonder if she becomes a bit more cooperative over time or will she always only want everything her way and only her way.

The reason I ask is I´m the kind of guy who enjoys playing a good character who helps people and do all the side content that I can but Lae`zel does pretty much disapprove every nice act at the start of the game and is very rude overall.

I understand why that is and where she is coming from and how her culture influenced her behavior, but I wonder if this changes over time so that she becomes a bit more likeable.

Will she always complain everytime you help people or will she at some point realize that doing good things can be beneficial or is she really only designed for evil playthroughs?

I think a better way to think of Lae'zel is that she is extremely goal oriented. And anything that diverts you from achieving said goal, she isn't going to approve of. Whether what you're doing is good or bad, is more or less irrelevant to her.

She does change through the game. I would say she has one of the biggest character growths in the game. Doesn't mean she gets more agreeable, necessarily.

As people have stated in the past, if you're romancing her, she eases up and becames actually quite likeable through the course of the game. Hell, she even smiles!

I do what most people would call "good" playthroughs, and Lae'zel always ends up with maxed out liking for me.

Lae'zel is not a psychopath. She's just very focused. She wants to get cured, and wants to do whatever is the shortest, easiest path to what she thinks is the cure.

Also, she intensely respects competency. As long as you show that you are brave and an effective fighter, Lae'zel will support you -- even if she doesn't always 100% agree with your more soft-hearted decisions.

Example early on:

Lae'zel is willing to terrorize Zorru and force him to grovel to her in order to get the information from him that she wants. But while Astarion genuinely wants to see you (or her) kill Zorru, Lae'zel is actually not on board with that and shuts down Astarion for suggesting it.

I do good playthroughs too, and Lae'zel is a very loyal companion in the end. Really worth having in your party.

I find Laezel quite easy to get high approval with even on good playthroughs, she's also easy to convince as long as you are playing a character that has the ability to do that in one way or another. She also often approves of you not doing what she wants because she respects authority.

As for specific approval reactions later on, it's possibly hard coded in. I tend to no longer have her in the party after a certain point, but Astarion carries on being annoying in this department no matter how his personal quest pans out.

Lae'zel respects decisiveness, resolve, strong leadership and bravery. She also respects being told in no uncertain terms to "♥♥♥♥ off" when you don't agree with her, she has no time for wimps who beat around the bush.

In terms of game mechanics it helps enormously to demonstrate these qualities to Lae'zel if you have good Persuasion and Intimidation stats and proficiences (personally I have stayed well clear of the Deception stuff with Lae'zel, I was guessing that lying to her would probably not end well and I judge her as someone you definitely want on your side).

So long as you deal with her with this in mind, she's a kitten cat. She will even purr sometimes.

Her abrasiveness is initially offputting, but she's a well-written character and no, it's not difficult to have a high approval from her in a "good" playthrough, at least mid-way through act 2.

Ah ok so now I understand why she suddenly adored me even though she was only complaining and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ before.

I literally told her at every opportunity to screw herself and when she then said that she was wrong about me and respects me and desires me even though I ignored her all the time I was like wtf this woman is nuts and I need to get rid of her asap lol.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses. You have convinced me to give her a fair chance. Maybe I should just be more patient with her.
