How do you permanently remove a friends character from your game?

One of my friends is being a DB and doesn't want to play BG3 anymore. Another one of my friends is filling in but wants to make their own character but when we invite her, instead of letting her create her own character it keeps trying to force her to play my other friends character. Is there a way around this? She doesn't want to play his character. I tried putting him in the closet. We tried clicking on the player 4 slot, we tried direct connect. Is there a way to just permanently delete his character so it just isn't an option for her to control that character? I don't know what to do short of starting a new game which really sucks for the rest of us who are 18 hours into the game. I have no idea what to do????

You have to start over to make a new fully custom character, or try and customize one of the Hirelings to your liking.

I once posted a solution which might fit your case, but you are not sharing enough information about your party. So try again or look up the solution yourself. According to people on the forums it is a well known solution so no one cared.

Sorry didn't know I wasn't posting not enough information. What information am i leaving out? My wife Just wants to jump into my friends game and every time she is given an invite it tries to make her play my other friends character instead of letting her make her own character. We dont know what to do to solve this. I wasn't even sure how to ask this question. It seems like a bug. You have 1,270 posts so I would have no idea were to even look for what post you did on this information. I went to your profile and tried to find the post but there are so many. So I don't know what to do. This whole thing seems difficult and convoluted, it should just let her make a character so we can play together and let us remove the character we no longer want to use....

Larian has not yet added the possibility to Delete custom Playable characters. It should have been added when they gave us the wardrobe, but still it's not a thing.

So if you already made 4 custom characters on that campaign, there is no way around it, unless someone find a workaround or made a Mod specifically to to this.

We've had the same issue on our playthrough. The only good news is that your wife can still customise appearance in the new magic mirror and respec to whatever class. But sadly you still cannot change the character's body type or Race

Also, not to be blunt, and i know 18 hours is a lot for a Coop party who only plays couple hours a day/week, but 18 hours into a campaign is still pretty early on, and if your friends are easy going, restarting isn't as bothersome as you'd think

Yeah, I play on about 5 multiplayer games and it's irritating you cannot delete a character to add a different one. The best solution we came to was re speccing a character, but Withers charges you for that. Its a major flaw in an otherwise perfect game.

Force a fourth instance. That solves the issue.

Yup, if you still don't have all 4 custom PCs, then you can still do it by forcing a second instance of the game running and having that instance join the campaign. Alternatively, have the old dropout friend rejoin for a minute just so she can make her character.

Forcing another game instance is simple, there's also a little guide on how to do it on the Steam guides Config section, posted precisely by アンジェル i believe

yeaaah no, my friend who is hosting our game is in her late 50's she is a retired teacher with diabetes and she can barely operate her phone or her computer. She takes her pc to geek squad to run windows updates... O.o this would be waaaay to complicated for her to do. It took us almost 3 hours just to get her character created. There is just no way possible for her to do this. They just need to fix this sh1t so that people can play with their friends. =( Im just going to have her make a new game fml. Thanks for the help anyways everyone.

Custom characters can be renamed and respecced entirely with withers and the mirror - even renamed.

Just repurpose the custom character,
