So there aren't any wands in this BG?
I haven't found a single wand (Except a broken one oddly) in my playthroughs, why are they absent? I checked, and they are a thing in 5e, and they were also present in past games....so why are they absent in this one?

Yes, I mentioned the only wand I found was a broken one.

Which is odd......there are no wands you can get except one that is broken?

Because there's plenty of scrolls, and Wands would basically just be multi-use/rechargeable scrolls.

Scrolls being so abundant kind of make wands obsolete, that and that you don't have to make a check to use a scroll if it's not on your spell list.

That does not change the fact they have their own use, they are a staple item in D&D that was present in the past Baldur's Gate Games, and they are still in use in D&D 5e.

What's their use in a game with a billion spell scrolls?

I know it's a thing in 5e, but there are plenty of stuff they left out and/or adjusted for a better game experience.

In case of wands, they basically just removed a redundancy.

Yes but you can only use a scroll once. Wands can be used multiple times, can be recharged, can have unique affects and abilities spells don't (Like the Wand of Curse that hit a enemy with Blind, Deaf, and Silence all at once, or the one that could shapeshift into various weapons), and using multiple charges could increase their power.

That, and they were in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and they are still in 5e, so there is no reason they should not be present.

The wands you want in 5e are the Wands of the War Mage. However, this game has staves that serve the same purpose. I suppose the advantage would be you could dual wield wands without the feat.

Yeah it's weird that they're absent. It'd be nice to have them as a one handed option so that spellcasters can have a shield as well as similar benefits as to what a staff would offer.

Yep, and wands can be rather fun, like the BG2 "Wand of Wonder" that would cast a completely random spell each time you used it. Could be a magic missile or a fire bolt, or could be lightning, fireball, disintegration.

For some reason staves are versatile weapons (I don't know how you wield a quarterstaff with one hand), so you can use one with a shield if you have the proficiency. I usually get Shadowheart the Shillelagh cantrip and give her one.

Yes, it's kind of weird that there are no wands. It's even weirder that there seems to be an inventory slot for belts but there are no belts in the game.

However, I end up drowning in scrolls anyway.

I found a wand called bitter divorce. It was not broken.

True, but that's a special quest-related item.
