Astarion's "siblings" disappeared
So while I was exploring baldur's gate, I entered a room in the Flophouse and two characters immediately disappeared in a puff of smoke. It took me awhile to realize these were actually the other vampire spawn mentioned in Astarion's quest, and they disappeared because I happened to have Lathander's Blood equipped. Are they just gone forever now? I can't have Astarion meet his "siblings" anymore?

Yeah, you should probably reload if you want to have that encounter. It's not necessary in order to do his quest, though, so if that'd require losing a lot of playtime, don't bother.

Everything involving the vampire spawn will get messed up if you have a daylight effect running. For that reason, I'd advise being cautious with using that weapon or the spell in the big showdown with Cazador - you can get away with it if you enchant a weapon with daylight and then put it away at the end of the fight, but if it's still affecting the field or the weapon is out, it'll break the cutscene that follows.
damn that sucks, can't reload that far back. thanks for the warning though

Hi, probably way too late for this conversation, but I had a similar problem and I figured out why this happens. Basically they only teleport away if you have the Blood of Lathander on you…cause it emits sunlight and they obviously dislike it.
