Poison resistance or gust of wind is all that springs to mind.

You could also try blocking the vents, but that didn't work for me, can't remember why.

Gust of wind doesn't work because the vents are already active and spraying it. At most you'll get a few seconds of clear air before the cloudkill's back. The vents have to be disabled to properly remove the cloud, whether that's by blocking them with a crate grabbed from elsewhere or directly disabling them with the DC30 check.

Resist poison's the smarter way to go. Stack the Elixer with the level 2 cleric spell for maximum protection. If memory serves, the chests had nothing of note in it, which is just plain weird considering the situation around it.

It's almost impossible to deal with that particular cloud. There is nothing important to loot there. If you really want it, just run in, grab stuff, and run back out. Hope to make your saves.

Or drink an elixir of poison resistance.

You can also cast dancing lights over a vent to block it. Very useful If you don't have crates or other objects around.

Minor Illusion works too, and isn't a Concentration spell.

I ended up using telekinesis and literally 20 gold and a healing potion.

Really easy way for me was to use my summon which was out (water elemental). It can't pickup stuff, but I was able to have it "drag" the chest and herbs over outside of the cloudkill.

If its anything like the gas vents in Auntie Ethel's lair in act 1. You should be able to block the vents with a heavy stone which you can throw and plug the vent.
