How do you activate non-lethal?
There was a pop-up that told me to activate non-lethal damage but it didn't really say how... It said press LB, I do it and there doesn't seem to be an option anywhere? I'm in game right now and I type non-lethal in these forums all I see is people saying to activate non-lethal but no one says how. I understand you gotta hit with a melee weapon, but with non-lethal activated... So how do you activate non lethal?

Open journal, find actions tab, look at common section, drag to action bar.

If you click the passives button on your hotbar, it'll show all your passive toggle abilities. Non-lethal is one of them.

Yeah, you are looking for "passives" in the UI.

Is non-lethal useful ? The rare times I used it, I did not saw any differences with the NPC around.

In some specific circumstances, yes. Otherwise it's just there for RP flavor and functions more or less the same as killing someone.

Once in a while you come across some mind controlled folks. Some certain mask-wearers come to mind. It doesn't SEEM like the game particularly cared one way or the other in that circumstance; but with this being a role playing game, it felt against type for my otherwise kind Monk to murder some folks who weren't in control of themselves.

It technically is a whine button for people who want to think that they're just sleeping when I slice them with the sharp sleep great axe.

If you really want to gain a non lethal you need to use a feature who knocks them out. Like a pommel strike where they fall down on their own on their turn.

It doesn't change anything. The game and games in general can not distinct between these two states of dead npc. They're dead but we can pretend they're sleeping.

AFAIK it's technically required in a certain fight with a certain Ranger...

Yeah that's where I am. And I didn't give any of my mages the destroy water move because I'm just starting ( and it's my first game like this... ) and I didn't know it was gonna be usefull so quick... So am I screwed? I can't get past the waterfall in the cave without it right?

No, you can just jump through the waterfall.

No, you can just jump through the waterfall.

Yeah you can just jump thru. However create/destroy water will be quite useful on the create side in just a few moments later during your next major fight.

The Durge also makes use of nonlethal to save a certain questgiver from their tender mercies due to a powerful reward that otherwise would become unavailable.

I had to KO her 3 times over 3 long rests after meeting her, before the durge scene finally started and used the standin. Was delayed due to companion scenes.

Talking of Nonlethal.....I wonder what might happen if the Durge KOs Isobel..

I'm going to guess... poorly. She needs to be conscious to keep up the shield.
