Mindsteal link is the biggest BS spell in the game.
Hello!

I'm trying to beat the Inquisitor boss for the Githyanki Creche quest, and there is literally no way to beat him because of that stupid BS spell. I've managed to clear all the adds, I'm low - used most of all pots, but now there is 4v1 so I might finally have a chance. So, then - what does this fking boss do, he ports into the middle of my group - does a mass mindsteal link spell, gets like 23 AC, then goes on to 2-shot my entire group. He has 3 hits per turn!!! My group is level 5, but regardless of the level, if he's got an AC 23, I cannot do nothing.

Just wtf kind of BS is that? I can see him using that spell on his adds, but soon as I kill them, that should be it, but no. I can't kill my team can, so with a buff like that, its impossible to beat him.

Is there a counter to this BS spell? I tried to silence him, nope - he silenced but still casts it.

Is there any way around this?

Thanks for the tip guys.

I never even knew he has such a spell I always gut him before he could make a move lol. I don’t think he ever lived long enough to do anything

If it were impossible, we'd never make it to act 2, readjust your strategy.

lol, lucky you :)

After the first turn he casts it, it hits mostly his adds initially - but, as expressed. I got all his adds down (which can 1-turn kill any of my group), he then just ported into my group, recast the spell and his AC was 23!! I will never be able to beat him unless I can counter this spell.

Play monk. Give him the gloves of dexterity from he crèche so he can act first then use stunning strike to keep the inquisitor stunned until you kill him. He will parry the first hit but you can use stunning strike as your second hit as you should have double attack at that point

What kind of party are you playing? That would help with advice.

A Warlock with his Hex against Wisdom Saving throws active and the Halt command would work. There is also upcast Moonbeam that can circumvent damage reduction. Grease or Ice Surfaces in abundance can assist a little bit. Also depends what difficulty you are playing on.

Hey dude,

I'm running as a Cleric, for my companions; Astarion, Gale and Lae'zel.
Larian cheats.

Also, can you Counterspell it? Does he need to maintain concentration? It has been awhile dealing with that boss...
Regnier Oct 14, 2023 @ 10:16am
See if Gale can't use Counterspell against it. That seems like the easiest way to go about it. You may need to get a higher level of spell slots available. It will need to be Upcast as well.

So, lol - just tried it again with 2 adds up this time;

Before: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969601276/screenshot/2137579295895636086/

Then after he ports in:

This shot just sums this fight up:

I mean, come on! This is such BS!! He's got a Mindsteal to every NPC, to every companion + spawns, He's got Githyanki parry, which is -10 to damage rolls, he can hit 3 times in one turn. He's got legendary resistance on top of that, and this is still Act 1 ffs! There is no way I can beat him.

Seems you may have three melee and only one ranged. Let Lae'zel be in melee range when he casts the spell. Use Gale for damage, your PC cleric for buffing and heals and Astarion for ranged until the Inquisitor's concentration is broken.

I don't even know what that spell does. I just continue killing the inquisitor without any problem.

If you want BS the mindflayer mind blast is there. I literally once got stunlocked and teamwiped in the first phase of the final battle by the illithid. Left to cook some gyoza, and then my screen is already your party is wiped.

That is an epic way to wipe.
