For instance, my LZ Fighter carries a Polearm type for general combat and a large Hammer type for knocking down walls.
So, pick your favorite.
EDIT: Take the weapon you like the most, the game is pretty easy and doesnt get harder. If you play on Tact. its maybe diff. for you, however you can always pre position your character during dialogues so ... even in Tact. Mode you shouldnt be worried about your Weapon.
Then you can get the everburning blade from the campion on the nautilod if you use command: drop on him with shadowheart and pick it up. Only downside is, you can't coat the weapon, because it's perma burning.
Then another rarely mentioned one is svartlebee's woundseeker. One of the flaming fists bashing the door in waukeen's rest has it. You get a bonus 1d4 attack roll on enemies that were allready damaged.
Then of course blooded greataxe you can buy or steal from Roah in the goblin sanctum. It deals bonus damage if you are below 50% health what is good, if you are a half orc and don't die if you go down the first time and have someone cast blade ward on you.
Sussar dagger is a good off hand weapon, greatsword... meh
