Help me out on Adamantite items decision
EDIT
PSA: I just figured out that you can craft 2 heavy or 2 medium, just crafted 2 medium armors and considering keeping it that way...

Looking at heavy armor that just about every Vendor starts selling at around lvl 6 https://i.imgur.com/hRR4zdH.png
The shield seems more and more tempting, sure https://i.imgur.com/G5etmzA.png splint is better than vendor armour, but you get crit immunity from helm and what's left -2 dmg from all sources which is very good and can quickly add up, but I am aiming to finish the fight fast and I don 't really care about reeling on my battlemaster. While for Shadowheart reeling might meen not losing concentration on the following attacks from that enemy
Don't get me wrong if you are making a tank - it's good, but I play mostly with strikers of which some wear heavy armor, best tanking is killing the enemy.

Scale mail is at least 1 AC (+ gooddies) upgrade for my Barb that wears medium armour
https://i.imgur.com/hDZtBy5.png vs https://i.imgur.com/rQauz3D.png or https://i.imgur.com/1iTZwB9.png that I sometimes wear for initiative bonus at the cost of 1 AC.
(I play 1 fighter 2 barbs, heavy, medium, cloth so the gear can be distributed without drama ;p )

It's kinda obvious to me that I should get the shield and medium armour but yet I'm still hesitating, opinions / advices pls, especially from people who know how fast certain items get replaced
Thanks in advance

I fretted over this but eventually you will find better stuff, negating crits is unique though so I went with items that would do that in good overlap. I also went one shield and the medium.

It doesn't matter, you will find better items for each and every slot sooner or later, usually sooner.

The heavy armour sells for most at the vendor, IIRC.

IMO its not worth to craft any weapons. You will replace them soon. But!
Use it to craft Heavy and Medium armor. With the Grim helmet you can have 3 ppl in your team that cannot be critted and you can literally run that armor until you reach Act 3 and kill Raphael

One of the good things about BG3 is they don't keep all the good stuff for the last level and final hour of gameplay. You can get stuff that you can use the rest of the game as early as ACT-1. The Adamantite gear is some of that.
The reeling is nice, but two or three turns won't matter all that much usually.

BTW, if you're playing this game like your regular RPG/MMO you'll end up richer than Croesus by the time you hit the big city and its stores. You may find gear more suitable for your builds but you'll have/make enough to fully furnish your party. Larian didn't pinch on that.

I went with the shield and split mail armor on Shadowheart. That alone with spirit guardians is a great dps engine for Act 2 - if you want her acting as a tank/dps.

cannot be critted is near useless, any armor whit more AC from vendors is better imo
SirKingJof Oct 12, 2023 @ 7:01am
All the weapons are garbage and can be safely ignored.

The shield and armours are all good and stay that way till you get endgame gear in act 3, they get replaced around the same time so that's not really a factor.

I personally took the shield and the medium as i spread them out along with the helm to have 3 characters immune to crits. On tactician in particular that's rather nice, unfortunately timed crits are just about the only thing that remain dangerous in to the late game. It's not op or anything but it's nice for free.

The best is the adamantine armor, because you can sell it for 1.800 Gold. The other stuff is less good and less worth.

Yes, shield + armor - if you use heavy armor then that, else the medium variant. The weapons are a waste.

Is better until you miss 6 out of your 7 attacks on tactician and AI will crit you every 2nd hit. In early levels not getting critted is very useful.

only heavy or medium armor are worth - the rest is useless. forget it.

I already have over 200k gold, I kinda got carried away with smugglers ring+shapeshifter boon ring (there's a way to get it without killing the strange ox You pass the check to figure out that Ox isn't ordinary ox, talk to him, then punch him and let him kill you, rez and talk to him afterwards with same char and he will expect something in compensation for you being "rude" this essentially opens a trade window where you can buy ring from him for around 200ish gold and Gloves of thievery + guidance amulet.

I would do my usual round after every level up/sleep (vendors refreshes their stock on both), so I would go and rob
Dammon, Arron, Volo in the Grove, trade trash/excess to Auntie for elixirs of Giant strength/Greater healing pot/Alchemy ingredients since you can't pickpocket her...

then Brent in Zhentarim hideout then Omeluum and hobgoblin vendor the name escapes me now, then finally the halfling vendor.

Then I recruited Halfling hireling and specced her into 2 lvls of Wizard (transmutation) + at first 1 lvl of rogue for extra medicine skill, later I dumped the rogue and went for Bard, so she is beside being Alchemy bot also my buff bot that stays in camp. This gives her insanely high medicine skill, combo that with guidance (enter turn based mode when crafting) and Shapeshifter's Boon Ring, and she can craft 30-40 potions in a row all being double craft, she basically almost can't fail to craft 2 elixirs/pots/whatever it is that you are crafting

All this netted me more gold than I need for whole game I reckon, but more importantly after stealing combined with Alchemy I have something like 15 stacks of 20 elixirs of Giant strength which allowed me to dump str in my specs and have decent stats all around since I can drink elixirs on all my chars

I was thinking along the same lines

The scalemail is probably the most versatile.
