Best/your favorite Illithid powers?
1) Cull the weak. At least for your main character, if you invest a lot in Illithid powers, aka take the whole brain. With 26 powers unlocked, you automaticly kill any enemy with 26 or less hp. Meaning, that a fighter type character like my dude with dual crossbows, can kill enemies with around 50-60hp 1 enemy each attack, so 4 in a round with no buffs. Or with AoE spells or arrows, just blast em all to dead.

2) Favourable beginnings. As a passive skill that is open to pick right away, its no brainer (teheehee) to pick it to every character. Completely busted for being unlocked so easily and whole team should have it.

3) Black Hole. Suckh whole area into 1 group, and then let a fireball, bomb arrow, or any AoE spell in. Or just combo that with repulsor or mind blast to first suck people next to you, and then make them fly like insects.

4) Fly. There are multiple ways to get fly, but having it as a passive all the time ability with no turn limits, certainly helps with the movement and positioning your characters like gods of the battlefield.

5) Displacer Beast. Its just so fun. Not the best of the skills, but its fun to have for your main character.

Freecast I find to be quite useless tbh even if it sound excellent. Its once per long rest skill only, thus even if its nice to cast something for free, its just 1 extra spellslot really. And if you are using it for spells, you could just use a scroll instead. Same goes for Luck of the Realms, and pretty much every once per long rest ability in the game. Theyre too unreliable and uncommon to use as an tactic, unless you spam long rest all the time.

Definitely the black hole power. Such a fun, useful, and powerful ability. That and the force tunnel power (the more powerful version if you turn full Mind Flayer is even better). I was causing so much damage with that power in the end.

Many of those are really cool , like mastery in persuasion etc.
But it made my character so ugly that I decided to load save and go without it.

Haha yeah, the last level of powers are really for evil playthrough, for a character who doesnt care, but just wants power. Cull the Weak+favourable beginnings still work well without changing the looks of the character.

I just downloaded a mod to make myself look normal again. No one comments on it anyway, so it's not very immersive.

Does it make everyone look normal, or just main character? I kinda want to have my main character looks back.
Altho I like how twisted my Gale looks now, that I made him as nasty as could, and put that ugly looking Helldusk armor on him. For fighters that armor looks stupid, but surprisingly, with some colors and with right hoods and mood, it looks badass on a wizzard or sorcerer of necromancy or evil nature and Illithid skin.

Well i think my Gale totally would have wen't full "nom-nom" on those tadpoles but I just couldn't bear looking at his ugly face.
Although your screenshot is kinda decent.

Perilous Stakes every time. Double damage for 3 turns from every source.

After you do zaithsk you can use all your powers as bonus action. Once you experience dealing 160 dmg in a single hit to Raphael you won't go back.

It gets rid of it on everyone.

Perilous Stakes is super powerful Boss Slayer skill, but its one of those "once per long rest" abilities that I am not personally fan of. Also, my main character wears armor of Bhaal, which gives permanent double dmg to piercing weapons as passive feature, and as I use those, its double dmg passively all the time anyway, without using an ability that takes time to cast, and can be used only once per long rest.

I like to play paladin. So long resting after every fight (on Balanced) is kind of must. If you loot everything you have a lot of resources to rest.

The crit once per long rest

I dont even know what made my main characters illithid powers to use only bonus slots, instead of action slots? I just noticed that for some reason, only he does them as bonus.
Its pretty good for a thief multiclasser though, since because of that I can use black hole+repulsor combo on the same turn for maximum mayhem (perhaps not the most dmg, but hilarious as heck).

Yeah pallys are rest hungry nukers. If you go that way, Luck of the Far Realms (one instant critical) is pretty crazy, as pally you can put something like Bonespike Helmet on to get menacing attack, and wield big sword while being Colossus size, do the Luck of the Far Realms to crit that special attack, and then use reaction to add level 3 divine smite. I wonder whats the max dmg potential of that, prolly around 200. But thats just 1 nuke for long rest.

On my solo (on Balanced) I abused Perious Stakes, Mind sanctuary and Black hole. Its even more abuse if you combine it with zaitsk perma bonus and speed potions +- Karabasan's gifts (if you are in Act 2 or further).
Max I saw from Perilous was 174 necrotic in single hit in some YT vid.

174 single hit would turn exactly 200, if enemy had 200hp and you have all the illithid powers for cull the weak.
