Same deal with the Emperor's Sword, deals extra damage to shapeshifters. I think they're immune to polymorph, but I'd need to check if it's true in BG3 or just a tabletop thing.
Now if you want a way that doesn't involve picking a fight with the suspect, not really. It's why well-played dopplegangers are legit scary.
They are then also shouldn't be targetable by spells against humanoids like hold person, since they are creatures and not humanoids.
I'm guessing their character sheet doesn't reflect this though? I forgot to check.
That said this psychopath lady in act 3 is slowly pissing me off though.
I'd assume the same could be possible for doppels vs standard NPCs. A doppel should be tougher to hit, more combat ready, so your hit chance shouldn't be as high as if it was a normie civilian.
I could be wrong, as I have not tested it. I went with the method of 'if it attacks me and turns into a doppel upon death, its a shapeshifter', lol. Some of the conversation ones though, if you have Detect Thoughts, you can read the thoughts of the dopel or someone near them to get a clue as well.
Orin? because im not sure she is the only psychopath lady but the most one untill now lol
oak father protect you, don't be afraid my friend she only wants to make you anxious and discourage because she is afraid of you
