Whats going on with the attack system? please explain
Let me say before hand I know DnD since 2e

Now I always thought there was a problem with line of sight in BG3 here some examples
* Sometimes if you target the general body area you get the message "path block" but if target feet or far back you can attack
* Other time in ranged combat you get no message and arrow get blocked by enviroment. I have no problem if foe is concealed or some thing but it should say 50% concealment so one can see whats going on and decide if its worth attacking
* Enemy is out of reach. But if I walk up and hit the ground and I hit the foe?

Now there seems to be multiple hit zones in a monster?

Now I just in my first Aunt ethel fight (was always not there up to now) and WTF if I target her body i get a 50% attack chance but if I target her beltstring hanging down i get 80% attack chance whats going on?

Do I have to search pixel on ever monster for best attack chance? What am I missing here?

here I took screens of it

"Target is obscured by shadows" - That is why you are getting 55% hit chance, still does not explain when you are targeting down her belt string to get 80% when she is in a shadow area.

I think the targeting system (line) is bugged not sure how it's been calculated but it looks like wherever you target it's not properly aligned to the characters model.

Probably a shadow is cast on the target partially covering it? And if he moves the cursor to the covered surface on the target, then it gets the debuff? If so, the "Target is obscured by shadows" should be determined by the % of surface area covered and the targets should be then considered a whole, not by segments that may or may not be covered.

No its a more general thing I actually did not have the mind to screen shot it the first time and the second time ethal appeared in new locations and I still had the 55%/80% effect but as I said I have been seeing the else where to even so far as no hit/hit possible and no red text (cover/obscured an so on) in hover other.

Start trying monster zones when you get no path or out of melee reach you'll see what i mean. And I mean any fight with any monster ethel started me of because its a boss fight...
Height difference gives you Advantage if it is large enough. The target is Obscurred by Shadows giving you Disadvantage on your attack. When you target the lower part of the enemy you are crossing the height threshold for Advantage, which cancels out the Disadvantage from shadows, taking you back to 80%. Currently I think it's a tooltip bug as the actual attack is made on a standard point on the enemy that is fairly central, which causes it to not get the Advantage from height when you actually attack, even if you target a lower point that indicates it should.

As you can see from screeny the part you are aming is out of range from the light so... you get the disadvantage hitting more to the right should fix the problem.

Or just light up the zone should work nornally after....just to test it and the shadow thing isn't a exact sciences in the game i seen it on multiple occasions same as high ground this is why i kept a box and a torch-candle with me at all times.
