Not much difference yet at Max 4 level cap Evocation are basically attack spells and abjuration defence spells. Learning cost should be half but did not not that in.

Here are should be details http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/wizard

Abjuration will give you a 'second damage' shield when Shield of Faith or the like is applied - it acts like False Life, something all wizard should pre-buff with along with Magic armor or shield of Faith say from Sword of Justice or Preistess Gut's shield (if you receive the mark). When I run solo lone wizard, I take Abjuration but if in a party play, go Evocation because it more party friendly and your area of effect spells do not harm your party mates.

I don't think it matters. What matters is -in my opinion- that you have an extra wizard. Why are you stuck with him anyway? If there's anyway to help or something ask.

I'm stuck with him because I only have 3 companions so far

Abjuration is not really worth it in its current implementation. The ward it gives you only has a flat 3 temporary health, compared to the PHB version where its health is equal to twice your wizard level + your INT modifier and doesn't replace any temporary health you already have. Considering that second level feature is all wizards get from their subclass in EA, you'll probably get more mileage out of the evocation one.

Given a standard wizard build is glass, it is worth it in solo lone toon play - that ward coupled with a false life and magic armor/shield of faith pre-buff is enough to allow that glass wizard to not get dropped to the damn ground when hit. And in full party play, Gale is notorious for getting wrecked ... EASILY...Gale needs ALL the hitpoints and protection and wards he can get.

They're both temporary hit point sources though so they don't stack. One of them overrides the other. And 3 hit points in the grand scheme of things is pretty much nothing. Being set on fire is enough to remove it and the only two spells right now that can reactivate the ward are mage armour and protection from good and evil, neither of which are spells you want to be recasting.
