Can't beat getting an extra cast for 1 pt.
It also will cost you your bonus action.
But it does work with Chromatic Orb, even though Larian homebrewed all but one of them to be AoE surface effects. I'd rather cast 6x Lv 1 Chromatic Orbs than 2x Shatter or whatever.
I think Quickened Spell would come in more handy with higher level spells, since I think the cost of Twinned Spell increases with spell level? So I'd probably say that they kind of break even when you're using it to cast a 3rd level spell or higher (which we don't have yet).
If someone wants to blow all of their unique class utility in a single turn and then turn into a crappy Wizard for the rest of the day, I say power to them.
I know, that's why I said it probably breaks even around 3rd level spells...which we don't have right now.
I just wouldn't waste Quicken Spell on a lower level spell, because you get more bang for your buck with Twinned Spell. Would you rather cast Chromatic Orb 3x Twinned (getting a total of six orbs) or Shatter or something twice?
Quicken is only supposed to let you cast a leveled spell as a bonus action, letting you use your action turn to something else. IF you want to cast another spell during that action it can't be higher than a cantrip because of obvious balance reasons. This coupled with Larians interpretation of Haste(shouldn't allow a second leveled spell per turn) means that a sorcerer can cast 3 fireballs per turn as long as she have points to support it
Whereas Twinning a spell doesn't use up an extra slot.
Twinning Greater invisibility, Twinning Enlarge, Twinning Haste, twinning Stoneskin... Those are probably going to be more efficient and effective.
Not that Quicken isn't a great Metamagic! But... Damn... twinning...
According to RAW, yes, but according to Larian, no.
And, I won't be single bit surprised if Larian will let us twin spell Fireball either...because it's so "cool". So that's 4(!) fireballs per turn. Sorcerer gets initiative....fight over.
