Really, really, *really* hope Act 3 performance is now okay.
Won't lie, Act 3's performance has been an absolute mess since launch. Even after all the patches, it just never failed to be an extremely laggy act. Enemy turn order issues, too. Other issues as well but those are more cooked in and I've come to terms with them.

Praying to god Patch 8 finally did it and gave Act 3 the help it desperately needed. Especially since the game's done getting updates now :ctesiphus:

Has been for a very long time now. Everything maxed (on ultrawide) a steady 60fps from start to finish on a mid-tier rig.

Maybe you're lucky or I'm just severely unlucky. My pc's more than qualified to run the game, other two acts run beautifully, while Act 3 has always ran terribly on all my re-playthroughs of the game across the many patches (most recent one was a full honor mode run in Patch 7)

I'm mid-tier, too; force-capped at 60, and stable so far. Dunno about Patch 8, yet. In the middle of a run in another game, but this one is next (yet again) after that one.

I also keep my system clean like some kind of technogermaphobe. I find I have less issues than many others in most games.

It's hit or miss depending on the rig imo, on my 2060, and I5 I started on, it was really smooth, barely any issues, but all my settings were really low obviously. On my brand new rig (4060ti, 7-8700F) Ive had some issues in ACT3, but I just give it a minute, and it sorts itself out, still annoying though considering this new pc is way better.

Ive had friends and seen streamers with god rigs have issues though, so again, I think its build-to-build. Good luck! :)

I agree the performance drop between Act1-2 and 3 is inexcusable, its clear they butchered something, fps seems to be fine when you are not moving, you can rotate camera in busiest part of Baldurs gate and its no problem but as soon as you start walking game ♥♥♥♥♥ itself.

Nah it’s fine.
My PC performance for act3 has been good all the time.
5800x3d
64gb ram
5700XT…
Run at 1440p

It just needs fast cpu… maybe some ram.

It's the NPCs everywhere that drags the performance.
