1) in Steam, browse to the games install folder
2) Make a BACKUP of the game with Steam
3) DELETE any folder that remains
4) RESTORE the backup
Also,
1) If you have MODS you may want to remove them BEFORE doing that, but I don't use mods.
2) if none of that works, maybe delete the location of the CONFIG files

I downloaded the game newly to be on the save side...
UPDATE: Deleting the game folder and the config-files worked for me.
I was able to load my savegames and I liked the new icon indicating the presence of mods in the savegame.
I was afraid that 3 small mods would cause me problems... no, everything's fine... for now.
I did something different this time:
✔️ I updated the MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) mod
✔️ I also updated the No Press Any Key Menu for MCM mod
After these updates, everything worked perfectly!
If anyone is having similar issues, I recommend trying the same process.
you not the only one boo.
Baldur's gate 3 jumped 19 slots to become top 10 seller list again. This may be the new norm (no man sky kinda does same), add in free content over paid dlc's and word of mouth will bring interest to gamers who were still on the fence and they decide to purchase.
