I think AI generated or edited "art" should be banned on the community page.
I just believe this kind of artistic bankruptcy and laziness should not be coddled. The fewer places allow this garbage, the better. I like seeing BG3 art, but I personally think the work of actual artists should be the only art on this page. I really do not like the uncanny look of AI art and it does not help that most of the recent posts here are AI. It may not need to be said, but the types of people who need AI to "make" anything are the Shadiversity type chuds, so I do expect the harassment I will get for voicing this concern.

AI art is boring, I don't even know why people even post it tbh, you can tell now at first glance wich art is AI at this point, it's always the same faces, the same poses... It would be great to see more work from real artists. ^^

The problem would be enforcement. Steam barely wants to pay enough people to moderate the forums, they aren't interested in spending the time moderating the art section and dealing with disputes of whether it's REALLY their art or AI produced stuff.

I'm not a fan of AI art but it's just not gonna happen.

also I just looked at the art for the first time in a while.

Somehow I'm not shocked it's mainly big titty goth girlfriend shadowheart art

Consider the possibility of not looking to the art you don't like instead.
I'm not judging here, i'm not an artist myself and rarely look at BG art. But i dislike the idea of banniing anything based on one's personal taste.

That's not art, though. It's trash vomited out from keywords.

You know when you visit your 4 year old nephew and he brings you a piece of paper with some kind of purple squiggle made with crayon, yellow sun in the corner and some kind of orange blobs because orange is his favorite color this week? He's more of an artist than people who post AI images like they did something worth looking at.

yea ai "artwork" should be ban from steam cause look at all the fake "art" filling up steams storage its useless, we want real art, not slop thats easy to do

On one hand AI "art" is a misnomer. Art is self expression. We have yet to develop AI that actually has a self. On the other hand how can AI art be confirmed without meticulously searching for errors no human would make, or getting proof of how the work was made?

I agree. And folks saying just ignore it are missing the point. It's zero-effort sludge that gets spewed out everywhere and clogs up the feeds making it that much harder to find art made by actual people.

aka : "I'm not an artist so I'm not concerned about the subject, I don't look up for arts, so I am not impacted about the subject"

The problem with AI has never been personnal taste, but that it litteraly steals from actual artist to produce something lazy, that can easily be spammed, and can take the spotlight of actual artists who spend several hours creating their pieces

Yup.

At least so far, AI images are pretty easy to spot. The issue is, it's now everywhere. All the floor plan sites I used to visit to make houses in sims are AI now, spewing out floor plans with stairs to nowhere and stoves next to the bed. The cross stitch sites are trying to sell people kits that are obviously fake. Even the groups I used to love where people would share beautiful photos of nature near their homes have all turned into AI slop of misshapen cabins nestled along side fuzzy, dreamlike streams that bend the laws of physics.

One beautiful irony is the AI garbage is being fed back into itself, causing it to create more and more inbred images as 'artists' aren't able to purge the trash it itself creates from its own data banks.
now im just thinking what if we remove the real artist and the artwork the ai wouldnt have anything to make if theres no art

AI generated images are not art.

People use to spend hours making machine parts in a factory by hand. Now we have machines making those machines as the most common form of production, but markets remain for hand-made quality things as luxury goods.

This is the inevitability of technological progress. Artists can either learn to accept the changing landscape and carve out their own place in the markets, or they can learn to do something else. But banging sticks and yelling like cavemen isn't going to stop it. Because A.I. is only going to get better as digital arms race continues.

Hilariously, it was artists who said the same things back then all smug with their self belief that technology wouldn't come for them.
Even more funny, all the artists claiming their art is being stolen without realising they freely gave it away by using social media and other data aggregators. Shoulda read the fine print.
