Do you have a source for level 12?
No epic levels as they don't exist in 5e. It will have multiclassing.
Based on 5e it should offer multi-classing but will GB3 actually?
Even if they change it, I doubt the cap will be any higher than level 14-15. Most published 5e campaigns only go up to around level 13.
So hard no on Epic Levels, which don't even exist in 5e anyway.
Multiclassing is a planned feature last I heard but I don't have source on hand.
This game however will without a doubt have heavy mod support so you can expect to see stuff like that added via mods after release.
I can already make custom classes, potions, weapons, armor, scrolls, books, and so on.
I am sorting out how to increase difficulty of enemies by giving them additional levels not extra armor and hp. Also looking at clone spawns so 5 enemies would become 10.
Larian has confirmed multiclassing.
So no, i doubt the level cap will remain lower than 20 for long. Its just the way D&D is ment to be and alway's was. Hell even in dark alliance, wich is BG, the cap is 20 (at least in 1 and 2, hope they increase it in 3 thou, dritz needs to be the godlike slaughtermashine that he is displayed as)
Honestly, I would bet that if an ancient red dragon was in the game right now people would still beat it even at level 4 (and I'm not just talking about with barrels and the like). A well optimized party of 4 using potions of haste, hill giant strength, wyvern poison etc. and starting the fight with a surprise attack could probably do enough damage to kill an ancient dragon before it got a turn with some save/reloading (I mean reloading from the start of the fight, not save/reloading in the middle of combat).
