Tashas Ability Score Rules?
I know they don't have them yet, but do you think they'll eventually add the tasha rules for racial ability scores?
Could always mod but still. I like rolling for my stats and being able to play any class with good stats on any race, ya know.

What are they?

Rolling for stats is a base feature of D&D. Whether Larian adds it or not we don't know. Fully customizable attributes on race seems unlikely at this point and even unnecessary if rolling for stats is implemented, since racial attributes play less of a roll.

I know, the post is kinda all over the place but the main question is "Do you think they'll add Tasha's to the game?"
I'm pretty sure there will be an option to use dice rolls for your ability scores instead, or increase the point buy limit. But if not, there will more than likely be a mod that lets you do just that.

Tasha's Racial Ability Score optional rules basically just lets you change what exactly your race gives you for ability score improvements. So for a drow, you normally get +2 dex and +1 cha but with tashas you can decide to change it to +2 str and +1 int instead.

I don't think they will add this but it is a possibilty. Nevertheless it's just speculation but seeing how slow the development of classes and races goes it's unlikely it will be in the full release but maybe in a later patch. However I hope they never implement it, kinda hate this.

I don't like the idea of changing racial bonuses to suit yourself.
+ You can play any race you want and adjust the stats to min-max your class.
- The differences between races encourage different racial choices to min-max.

I'm not an enemy of allowing +1 to all stats if you are human, because they lose out in racial abilities. It's a bit strong to allow this, but not wholly unreasonable.

I find this weird...

Like take a race of people who have spent generations in harsh mountains. You come from a long line of hardy mountain folk, the weak among you dont live long in the fierce cold and you've learned to navigate the loose rocky terrain over the years.

What are your Racial benefits?
I'll take Charisma and wisdom please

If this is for rolling stats yes please let us roll for those stats with dice!🎲

I like players being able to pick their ability bonuses. It cuts down on races being chosen because they fit the class, rather than the character.

Nothing wrong with that imo. Doing it your way just pushes things toward there being so little difference between the races that you might as well make them all one race.

i think there is abit of confusion?!✨ on what this rule does? cos his talking about race ability scores then rolling...maybe someone should clear that up. And if it's for races it's fine as classic is best. Same as rolling for stats..

I don't disagree with you, but I think a lot of people like making characters that are atypical from norms. The average dwarf is strong, tough and wise, but it seems likely that some dwarves would be overly charismatic or intelligent. We already know your character is "special" and is destined to rise above the common folk anyways.

The ability score bonuses don’t really provide much difference when it’s the class that sets which scores are important. A player making wizard will make INT their high stat whether they’re a high elf or a half-orc, it’ll just cost the half-orc a -1 on some other modifier to get there.
This way they don’t need to feel like they’re nerfing their wizard by making them a half-orc. The racial features and feats are still where the meaningful differences are.

this is specifically the reasoning I have for why Tashas optional rules for ability score modifiers is GOOD.

Right now, you can play any race in any class, just if your racial mods don't affect the class's main stat then you're playing with a somewhat big disadvantage. You'd be playing a full ASI behind what is considered optimal and is honestly pretty restrictive.

If your reasoning is "Elves are lithe and elegant, they wouldn't have str as their main stat" then what kind of elf is Halsin!?

One of Tasha's changes is to remove set ability scores from races and instead make all of them floating abilities like a half elf. For example a wood elf won't necessarily have +2dex +1wis, they could have +2int +1dex making them a great wizard.
