Rubies
At the Selunite Outpost there are some rubies powering the defenses - anybody figure out how to obtain them? I thought I could use mage hand but that doesn't seem to work.

you cant , theres no contextual menu if you right click them while in range - which tells me they are fixed.

there is a ruby you can get though (worth 1600gold) very early in the game, right out of the crashed ship. need to jump to reach and have perception check success and the str to move the rock that hides the chest

You can shoot them with an arrow, but it just breaks them

Right out of the crashed ship meaning where we wake up after falling or one of the areas which lead into the wreckage? Asking for a friend.

Thank you very much. Not so much for letting me get a nice ruby. But rather for the lesson in exploring. While I might think I've done all the content having fought my way through Goblins and Duergar, dealt with sado-masochist priests and rude Halflings, been followed home by annoying puppies and threatened by dragons. But that isn't "doing all the content". Time to look harder... :-)

Things people seem to commonly miss on the first run:
Mud Mephits and Wood Woags
Spectator and petrified drow
Kuo-toa
Zhentarim hideouts
Harpies
Myconid betrayal
Unlocking arcane tower levels
Necromancer lair and phase spiders cave
Owlbear cave
