A story problem with tadpoles..Story wise
We are looking all over the place for a cure however.....When an NPC with a tadpole dies the thing leaves the body. So easy mode cure.....have yourself killed and let the tadpole leave your body and then get a rez.....problem solved.

Well the game doesn't let you do that, so while its a plot hole mechanics wise it doesn't work that way
Hate to agree, but this is Gameplay VS story at work. My belief is suspended enough to let this slide.

Maybe it does something to the brain that messes you up if it leaves. So yes, you could be resurrected, but you could also become a drooling idiot.

Tho in the case of Lae, that would be an improvement.

Is it possible the tadpole is only immediately leaving the body, because it senses the presence of others infected with a tadpole? The tadpoles of the recently deceased do interact with you/try to manipulate you after all...

Presumably, they could live for some period of time in a corpse feeding off their brain. Low level spells to raise the dead require the intact corpse and usually only work within the first 10 days from when they die. If it can last at least that long, it'd plug your plot hole. :)
Firstly, you and your friends seem to be unique cases, which is why you haven't died but also why you can't get it removed easily. More powerful forces seem to be at work here, and i doubt simple magic is going to cut it.

Secondly...Revivify isn't strong enough magic to restore the missing parts of your brain/make you normal again.

Mean but funny :P
Resurrection is a game mechanic, not a canon thing happening to your characters. Reviving someone in dnd is a very high level spell. There is a reason your res scrolls dont work on npcs. It's not really a plot hole.

But reviving someone costs 200 gold and can be done at camp :P

If they wanted it so seem tough (high level and requires a load of diamond dust in PF) then maybe it shouldn’t be that easily available.

I’ll buy the special mind frying tadpoles explanation though.
If I were the DM I would say that rezzing also returns the tadpole....via a soul link.
According to the FR Wiki[forgottenrealms.fandom.com], yeah killing someone and resurrecting them will work. But it has to be resurrection, and you would need to cast Heal or Restoration on the person to restore their memories. A simple raising won't do the trick.

Resurrection (7th level) > A level 13 cleric should be available in all major cities
This spell neutralizes any poisons and cures normal diseases afflicting the creature when it died. It doesn't, however, remove magical diseases, curses, and the like; if such effects aren't removed prior to casting the spell, they afflict the target on its return to life. This spell closes all mortal wounds and restores any missing body parts.

True Resurrection (9th level) > A level 17 cleric should be available in Baldurs Gate
This spell closes all wounds, neutralizes any poison, cures all diseases, and lifts any curses affecting the creature when it died. The spell replaces damaged or missing organs and limbs. The spell can even provide a new body if the original no longer exists, in which case you must speak the creature's name.

You can resurrect your party whenever you want, except when it really counts. Sorry, Aerith.....

It has to be sort of canon, because Gale actually has special cutscenes if he dies which are one way to discover his whole problem.

Agreed - although I suspect we won't get to the city of Baldurs Gate for a while, so there can be plenty of plot development in the meantime.

Also, some powerful magics are holding the tadpole in stasis, so it might be a lot more complicated to remove than just finding a high level cleric. Since it's a Baldurs Gate game, the gods might already be meddling with your head
Actually....
If you make a deal with the Hag, and she fails to remove it, she does reveal who was messing with it and a bit more...
