Please let us configure graphics settings outside the game
Through some strange error my resolution was set to something ridiculous and now I cannot navigate the start menu anymore since it had to be so flashy.
It's so laggy for me that I cannot even lower the resolution in game anymore, I know I might be able to fix this through an ini file but still...

Yeah I see what you mean, you can't even access the options on the launcher like a lot of games allow you to. I think you might have to try the fix that you were talking about.

Scroll down to line 78-79 or so (it can vary, depending on what options have been set, etc.) and edit the appropriate lines.

<node id="ConfigEntry">
<attribute id="MapKey" type="FixedString" value="ScreenHeight"/>
<attribute id="Type" type="int32" value="0"/>
<attribute id="Value" type="int32" value="1080"/>
</node>
<node id="ConfigEntry">
<attribute id="MapKey" type="FixedString" value="ScreenWidth"/>
<attribute id="Type" type="int32" value="0"/>
<attribute id="Value" type="int32" value="1920"/>
</node>

Worst case, it seems like you can just delete (or rename) the file and it'll create a new one. Then you can just take the settings entry you want, add it back to the original file and delete the new one and just use the old one. But as you might have made other changes, you might prefer to keep the old one with the new graphic settings.

True..All you can set in the launcher is Direct X 11/ Vulcan. Hopefully they change that as like you say it locks you out of the game if you change something that doesn't allow the game to run.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone, didn't mean to come off as whiny or anything by the way.
I had already tried screwing around with that file including deleting it, now I have edited this file to force a 800x600 resolution but it still forces me into that same ridiculous resolution as before.

The game is essentially unplayable for me right now, the very last resort I can see is completely wiping the game from my system and redownloading it, but that would take forever.

For some reason the game forces a 1028X1900 resolution no matter what, my machine cannot handle it for some reason even though i've been playing the game fine at 1080X1920...

If anyone else has any ideas that would be appreciated.

As it stands now the game is essentially unplayable and nothing I have tried let me fix it.

I wouldn't even mind losing all my saves either, just let me play the game again.

Try right-clicking game in Steam and select Properties.
Click on the General tab and click on Set Launch Options.
In the field type or paste: -windowed -w 800

Sorry, that does not quite help.
I did manage to navigate the menu somewhat and turned on windowed mode though, even tried changing the resolution there with around 2FPS and this is what I got

There isn't even any other resolution to chose from anymore? What even happened....

Right click on the file and select properties then make sure the "Read Only" box isn't checked. If it is, that means no edits can be made to it. Untick it, make your changes, save, then retick it.

It does let me edit it and it does save the changes. The read only box wasn't ticked.
For some reason the game seems to have forgotten all resolutions sans "1842 x 1026"

After launching the game my edits get changed back from 800 x 600 to 1842 x 1026.

I'm having the same results testing these solutions. Manually editing the graphicSettings doesn't work, they're overwritten at launch and launch options don't seem to be implemented. My only other suggestion is to try changing the target Fullscreen Display to one of your other monitors.

Have you tried doing a clean reinstall? Uninstall the game and delete all files associated with it. If its still a problem then, I have no idea what's going on. But I don't think it would be the game in that case.

I have not tried that yet as the game is quite large and takes a long time to redownload.
Until about two hours ago I was able to play the game just fine which is why i'm trying everything under the sun to try and fix this.

Well what do you know? Seems like my machine ran a windows update whilst I was playing and it indeed screwed up my GPU driver!

Thanks to all who spent their time trying to unravel this mess, but still the topic head still stands, being able to adjust graphics settings inside the launcher would save lots of people lots of grief!
