Infinite Loading in Multiplayer

So I'm well aware that this game's multiplayer is a nightmare, me and a friend have had to overcome things like being unable to quick save, 1fps bug, the game slowing down to a snail's pace, npcs not reacting, etc...

but the bug we encountered today is probably the worst by far, he can no longer join my lobby. He gets an infinite loading screen, and we've tried quite a few things such as both restarting the game, restarting the PC, changing from DX11 to Vulcan, and closing anything that might be causing network issues.

Has anyone else had this problem and have a solution for it?

Yes, and with few variations. Did you two finished the tutorial? That was where most of the bugs happened to us (playing with 4 players live on twitch).

Just to be specific: are you trying to load from: character creation, tutorial, "main island"... ?

Nah, we've actually made it quite far, past the goblin camp and all. It's strange that it decided to give me this bug out of nowhere.

We have same error. Literally, unplayable for us in multiplayer due to getting stuck at 3/4ths for loading from main island. Any fixes out there?

Ok. Are the players trying to enter your game after you're fully loaded? Did you try Steam invites or clicking that "join the game" option?

Yup, we've tried both. I believe we've tried every obvious solution, We're currently going through the settings and checking if turning something on or off will do the trick.

One thing that helped us (for a while at least) was to disable cross saves.

I might try verifying game files, and if that doesn't work, I'll see if a clean reinstall with help.

I've been playing with my friend over in China and here is what we noticed about this. The loading screen isn't infinite, but it is unbearably long. Depending on internet connection, you are looking at a 20-30 minute loading screen for someone trying to join the game.
At first, we didn't have this problem. Character creation went smoothly and we had about a 5 minute loading screen for him to join me in the tutorial, but we expect that from his connection in China.
The problems started after we reached the druid grove. Ever since we entered there, we have been having problems with loading times. It even affects new games, which is weird.
