Yeah, I wanted to play a Paladin more than anything, but it'll happen when it happens.

I would not be surprise if the dev want to push one way to play right now given how comment they made after they talk about the character creation during their update patch note.

I'm surprised they didn't already implement paladins, as they don't seem mechanically all that complicated. By that, I mean they don't really have ways to break the game, shake up roleplaying, or require complex UI quirks to suit their unique abilities. I dunno, Lay on Hands or Smite don't seem that intensive.

One thing I'm not thrilled with, is aside from Ranger, every class we can play as is duplicated by a companion character. So odds are, whatever class you want to play, it will feel redundant and will push you to keep a character out of your group even if you like them. Of course, the final version of the game hopefully won't have this problem.

Astarion dies in my game at the start, don't like leeches, so I have two, but I agree it's the weakest if inevitable part of a restricted early access.
However the option for a heavy armour cleric and ranger and spell casting options for the fighter so you can make a 'pseudo paladin'. And there's a cool double-hander to pick up early on.

I thought that Astarion wasn't available in this build!?

Yup...patiently waiting for Paladins....

they should release classes during EA since I feel like a lot of the bugs are going to stem from the robust amount of spells/skills D&D has per class and per subclass
