game goes back to title screen instead of starting

there's also this weird promtpless text box that keeps appearing, anyone have any idea what's happening?

Had that happen when I had mods installed. Had to update and remove some outdated mods. What mods do you have installed?

I have a few installed from the BG3 mod manager but they aren't active, script extender too
the only ones active were from the in game mod menu.

im having the same problem but i took all my mods off even in the data folder. but im still getting the message everytime

If you don't have that much mods you can do what I did and disable them until you find the one causing the empty prompt.

thats the issue I don't know whats causing it cause i disabled them all and even reinstalled the game three times and i still don't know what is causing it for me

tried that to my game doesn't even load it freezes at like 63% every time then nothing happens.

useful answers only or Explain yourself, why would I need to revert to a Beta patch when the games been out for almost a year?

You could also try removing all the mods in the Mods folder (Not the game files, Larian Studios folder) That's the only other file I can think of that it reads, although it shouldn't read those if you have them disabled, but who knows.

Roll back or do a clean install, simply reinstalling won't work. Some mods bork files and leave them behind. Borking things even if you re-install. Go to guide, search clean install.

If you're trying to play a save with mods you no longer have or that don't work, yeah.

You need to clean install and either play vanilla, use only the mod.io interface or go through your mods, one by one, adding them and making sure they work. One. At. A. Time.

It's a long game though, no telling if something that works in act 1 will work in act 3.

Just know, even if you clean install or whatever, playing the save you had, isn't likely happening.

okay thanks. I'll try this and see if it works cause i've just been trying to play the game for a few days thankfully i still have it on xbox so i could still play but i enjoy the pc version better

so going by elimiantion trouble shooting it seems that race and equipment mods trigger it.
