Connection trouble after latest patch
I've just spent the last hour trying to connect to my partner's game. We've been playing for the better part of a year and have never had connection issues before. Would love any help if anyone has recently run into the same issues? We're both playing through steam, on the same network. Whenever I try to join her game, I receive the generic "cannot join this game right now!" Pop-up, and I'm redirected back to the main menu.
1. Followed this tutorial: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3018203217 on both PC's, no change.
2. We've determined she can join a game I host, but not the other way around.
3. I have no forwarded ports, but my router has UPnP & ports have never been an issue before.
4. Both games are up to date and running the same version.
5. Neither of us are using mods, we've both verified integrity of game files.

Not sure what else to do.. pls help!

Interesting.

Only things I did other than everything you did, which got the game multuplayer working through steam.

Either remove or Download the mod toolkit on the other computer, One computer with the toolkit is a different version of the game than without.

Or, update Steam Cloud.

Hope that helps.

It's just a issue with the game in general. Was hoping this patch would fix it but it seems it hasn't.
Seems like the current fix for it is for the player joining to close out steam and launch the game's exe through the game's directory.

Steam Library > Click Baldurs Gate 3 > Click the Cog of the right > Manage > Browse Local Files > Close out of Steam completely > In the newly opened folder click on "Bin" > Then your preferred launcher (bg3 = Vulkan) (bg3_dx11 = DirectX)

This will set you as "Public" when you join the game; I'm unsure of the consequences to this though. You will have to join through Direct Connect.

The other fix is for the players joining to delete their own savegames folder and a few other things, or something along those lines.

Do you mean to say both should have the mod toolkit? Or one with and one without?

I just gave ALL of this a try and still nothing, I even set the hosts game to 100% public and cannot join from the multiplayer menu.

I also completely uninstalled & reinstalled the game, this is killing me :(

Either, you should both have the mod toolkit or you both, should not have the mod toolkit.

The hotfix 26 changed my game version on the computer with the toolkit. Creating a version mismatch when I tried to play multiplayer. I had to upload the toolkit on the laptop to have the same game versions match.
