Gortash keeps spamming "Invoking the Black Hand"
Gortash is literally unkillable, he keeps spamming "Invoking the Black Hand" any time he takes damage.
That is not even a reaction, just a trigger on damage, so he keeps replenishing his 150 temporary hitpoints no matter what.
I'm not using any mods, just plain Tactician vanilla.

It was a long time ago, but I remember struggling to inflict damage on him the first time I fought him. In the end I ended up killing his friends and then pouring more DPS on him than he could heal.

Of course nowadays I just abduct him: Use an invisibility potion on a character with 20 STR (or more) and use the "improvised weapon" action to pick him up and "attack" the ground far away from his office. After that anything goes: Explosive barrels, tossing him off the battlement, etc... That particular fight is pretty easy and fun to cheese if you struggle with the normal way of doing things.

I didn’t know you could abduct people. That’s seems like the easiest way. I loaded a pre-coronation save file and lured only Gortash to the outside balcony and kicked him over the side. In my main play though, I took out all guards and steel watchers on the roof while Gortash was in the audience hall. But then I have a shadow monk/rogue assassin Astarion that’s pretty OP for my team. What’s your situation like?

Damn, those Black Hand fellas are kinda though, with those flamethrowers and such. Stupid Brotherhood of Nod...

There actually is another story above Gortash, but you have to go all the way around the outer area to find it. Once you drop the ladder, you can easily setup a trap/kill-zone. Just don't try raising the ladder once the fight starts, it won't let you. But that way basically avoids all the traps and random crap that Gortash setup - just let him come to you and have fun.

I mean, I just killed him a few days ago, so I find it hard to understand the claim that he is invincible.

Don't even drop the ladder. Stay on the upper indoor balcony and spam the illusion cantrip in the trap zones, especially the grenade launcher trap area. Just don't overheat the flamethrowers.

You can destroy a thing on the wall that buff him, and leave another thing that debuff him. Makes the fight a lot easier.

If you can't beat him in any other way then you have all the time and opportunity to sneakily place a couple of smokepowder / firewine / etc. barrels in a pretty spot (there are even some nicely placed outside, just for the taking). Then simply lure him to that spot, make boom, win, loot.

A win is a win, no matter how it's achieved; a dead enemy won't argue with your methods.

Seems like it's a bug. Same thing is happening to me. I've gone through 8 of his 150 HP pools. He instantly recasts it the moment I break through the 150 HPs. It doesn't matter if he's stunned or CC'd in any other way. It breaks the CC and fills the HP pool back up.

EDIT: Sure enough, on a reload, the bug doesn't happen.

Same sh#t happened to me yesterday 25/9/24.... Had to delete my honor mode camaign cause no matter how many reloads (and you do have just one save) it would not be corrected...... trully unhappy

I also got the same bug in my honor run and submitted a bug ticket to Larian.
Apparently it's a known bug. Lets just hope they fix it fast and i can continue my run without starting all over again..

I just remembered why I stopped playing BG3. It was indeed because of this bug. This was back in November 2023. Don't think they're going to fix the bug since it's been almost a year since then.

I killed him on tactician and I am close to fight him again in Honour. I remember it was the easiest of the 3 "chosen" to fight. I think we have to destroy some gadgets on the wall and then he loses his protection. As for his entourage just did what I usually do whenever I have room for it, I run and lay an ambush on chosen ground. in this case "chosen ground" was on the balcony and I made my line of defense at the door, staying outside, in the open. Cast Hunger of Hadar inside, stayed outside, cast black holes to keep pulling them together and into hunger of hadar and completed with multiple throws of Nyrulna and some other AoE spells into the gathered up crowd... Inescapable.

If you can load in before the encounter and in an area where you can still go to your camp, just go to your camp and retrieve lots of explosives, 5 or 6 gunpowder barrels should do... Disable all his protections and kill his allies, place the barrels around him, move your party WELL AWAY from them and detonate... Sacrificing one of your NPC's, maybe... Done. If it doesn't works, kill all his allies, drink an hill giant strength potion, pick him up and throw him off the balcony, that's instant death, it should work.
