Is shovel no longer summonable permanantly as wizard without transcribing?
Like it says on the tin, my wizard used the scroll and now I can't get it permanently despite everything out there saying that's all I should have had to do (and talking to it which I also did). I thought transcribing was only useful for getting it on non casters or duplicate summoning with another wizard.

Does changing the name block it? She's "Basket" now because all my other characters have just kept "Shovel" and I wanted to see if dialog changed (which it seems to have with the default one liner at least, not about being bored like usual but about how you should always trust her). Did a recent patch force wizards to have to transcribe it now for "reasons"?

I ran into this problem and solved it this way. Have another party member summon Shovel. Do not change her name. Go through the normal process you know and then when you get through the mirror have the desired party member you want to have Shovel Permanently talk to her and you should get the Spell ♥♥♥♥♥ line and boom. Job done.

Oh for context, I had Shadowheart do the original summon and dialogue. Then switched to my TAV when through the mirror. Ensure you and Shovel are inside the secret room beyond the mirror.

I hope this works for you.

You can talk to him the first time you summon him as a Wizard or Sorcerer and then it will become a permanent familiar buff you can use.

warlock can also get it free.

the shovel to familiar / pet gifted ability is a bit buggy. As often as not it will talk to you and not give the ability, and then get stuck in the 'I always tell the truth" when you try to talk again. To fix that, having another character talk to it will break the cycle usually. If you want the spell on character A,then have a non-eligible character (like a fighter) talk to it and then talk to it on A again.

It used to be broken such that if you transcribed and summoned it would also teach the ability to another character, but I dunno if that still works or if it is consistent/safe to do.

I've only ever just learned the spell itself instead of using it. The other day, I tried to learn the spell from my spell tab, but it didn't show up there like it used to. Fortunately, you can learn the spell by right clicking on the scroll itself. Not exactly what you're talking about, but I wanted to mention it.

I tried that but couldn't make it work. The quasit just gets stuck on the "trust" line with that character too (tried it on a third same thing) while still stuck on the original character who summoned and talked to it also. Unfortunately I didn't notice until several long rests later when it got stuck and I dismissed it thinking I could just resummon so at this point if I can't get it to work I guess I'll just go without on this character, shame.

Don't rename Shovel if you want her as a permanent free summon.

Also, don't have any levels in storm or wild sorcery.
