I made the deal with Raphael, game is over, but nothing happened with the deal.
(Hopefully I am not writing any spoilers!) I just finished my first play through. Near the very end of the game, I found I needed, very late in the game, to make the deal with Raphael in order to free Orpheus. i fully intended to not go through with the deal anyway, and so I expected that at some point I would have to fight Raphael. But the game ended, successfully, and I never saw or heard from Raphael again. During the final battle against the brain, I didn't think about the crown, and it seems (from a follow up conversation with Gale) that the crown was lost somewhere in the sea or someplace. It just seems strange to me that this part of the game plot involving the deal with Raphael (my character signed the contract) seems to have been skipped and/or forgotten. Any one?

You do have the opportunity to fight with Raphael by travelling to his liar (located via a particular shop).

So, following this contract thing through is voluntary? If I don't seek him out, I can get away without fulfilling it? Sounds a bit strange.

Did any of you fulfill their part?

I think you have to kill that other devil that he wants dead to fulfil the contract. Could be mistaken though.

You made the deal with Raphael. You got what you wanted, and I presume he got what he wanted. Once he has control of the Hells, things may go badly for everyone else, but you never know. Things will definitely go bad for you after you die, because Raphael's deals always end up with the souls belonging to Raphael.

According to the Wiki, there is supposed to be a short cutscene after defeating the Absolute if you made the deal with Raphael.

If you want to break the deal, you have to do it by going to the House of Hope and stealing your contract back. You have to do this before confronting the Absolute.

I always ended up killing Raphael after destroying the contract so had always completed the game when Raphael was no more. You get to steal the weapon from his liar at the same time. All I can say is that it is a tough fight with his HP being (strangely enough) 666.

Overall, what difference this makes should you keep the contract, I really don't know.

It is maybe just a fluke in the way I did the run through. I never intended to free Orpheus and so didn't think I would need the hammer at all. But then late in the game, after having all three crystal pieces and the only thing really left to do was to go after the brain, I found out that I either needed to give the crystals to the Emporer (who I did not trust) or I would have to become a mind flayer (which I did not want to do). So, suddenly I find out that Orpheus needs to be freed in order to become the needed mind flayer to confront the brain. And whoosh in pops Raphael suddenly, with his deal. I therefore made the deal to get the hammer to free Orpheus in order to proceed with the end game, fully expecting to have to fight Raphael later, as I was not about to let him have all that power afterwards. But the end plot does not really leave any opportunity to have a confrontation with Raphael at this point. After defeating the brain and ordering it to kill itself, the game kind of just ends. There is the final scenes in the city, the farewells to Wyll, Karlach and Lae'zel, and then finally on to the epilogue party scene.

Oh, update! I got closure! I just needed to see the entire epilogue and the very ending of the epilogue to understand. Spoiler follows: Perhaps those who have managed to fight with and defeat Raphael during the game will not have seen this. After the game credits were over, Raphael appeared and gave a speech, admonishing me for not fulfilling the agreement to give him the crown. In my case, Gale reconstructed it and presented it to Mystra instead. Raphael then has the very final words of the game (again, after the showing of the game credits), in the form of a warning about how he would have been a better host of the crown than Mystra. Wow, a very interesting and entertaining ending!

Why would you skip the raphael fight tho?

It's jaw-droppingly amazing

Because you cannot do everything on the first run through, especially when you are not aware of the various intricacies of the plot choices. There are a few "areas" or quests of the game that I didn't get to, or didn't complete for lack of knowing the various consequences of certain decisions and actions. I may take up the fight with Raphael next time.

The fight with Raphael at "his place" is very annoying, unless you like the theatrical am-dram that I find annoying as all Avernus.

This game should have been so much darker feeling, but I don't think the devs have it in them, as they like to make their content too cuddly.
