Enjoy!
I haven't used any mods and am only considering doing so now through the official modding support Larian has added and asked specifically about a mod that I had seen on the in-game modding tool...not a third party site.
Thank you.
Modding is not for the faint of heart, whether as a modder or a tester. If it can go wrong, it will.
Based on your original post and reply, I would recommend for you to steer clear of the mods.
The Larian manager is not any more or less stable than the 3rd party one. If you don't know what you're doing with mods, you will bork your game.
That being said, to answer your original post, installing one mod will not have any adverse effects unless it's just a bad mod. Worst case scenario is you can uninstall it and reload a previous save to before you installed it, or start a new game.
It's the only way. This mod is stable and haven't caused any problems in my game. See some manuals about mod installation for BG3, it's not so hard
I don't want to just try it without feedback first because I've seen many credible instances of people being unable to unsubscribe from mods... trying to unsubscribe and just having them reappear.
I'm not interested in third-party modding sites thank you and lectures about how risky modding is are unnecessary.
It has the unfortunate effect of loading the characters with default options, like the "see all colors" options are not checked in by default sadly
so if you, hypothetically, wanted to put some eyeliner and highlights on Astarion, you’d have to regive him the correct skin tone and eye colour cause he’s reverting to the default high elf ones, but it’s worth it
Also, I didn’t try uninstalling it after relooking an origin, but did before and there wasn’t any problem with the unsubscribing
You don’t need to "understand modding" for that, the mods on the larian in game mod manager are checked for quality and most will say if they have some bugs left
There’s no need for you to "steer clear of modding" just because you don’t wanna use nexus
The one you are looking for is called Origin mirror unlock.

I have not used it, can't tell you how well it works. I can tell you when it comes to any mods I'm unsure about, I read the bug reports. Since mod.io forces bug reports and all other feedback into the same discussion forums ... well, i read those.
Reading its forums, I see people ... reporting issues. You might want to read up on those issues before installing it. It looks like it mostly works ... with various kinds of side effects that people are reporting, and maybe only after you're done recruiting everybody.
